Your phone notifications are messing up your mental health, so here's a way to live life without any pings, rings or dings

Who is ruling whom? Are we in charge, or are our phones? Osher was in a Pilates class and the lady on the mat next to him spent most of the class checking her smart watch.

There is so much scientific research that proves that the notifications on our phones are affecting our brains, our lives and how we connect with other people.

We can get control back of our lives, by changing how we interact with our phones. Osher discusses how we can live better lives without notifications.

How to increase your resilience (so you can be more vulnerable)

How to increase your resilience (so you can be more vulnerable)

Reflecting on Jelena Dokic’s episode, in this episode Osher explores the relationship between resilience and vulnerability.

Vulnerability without resilience is dangerous. If you’re vulnerable without the strength to cope, you’re wide open to calamity.

Like being immunocompromised next to someone coughing—you’re incredibly susceptible to harm.

On the flip side, if you’re resilient without being vulnerable, your relationships, creativity, and ability to connect with others suffer.

Vulnerability shows how susceptible you are to danger or stress, while resilience is your ability to recover from it. The good news is, resilience is something we can build and develop, and in this episode, Osher offer up a few key ways to develop that skill.

Going from a life filled with abuse to a life of triumph and purpose (w/ Jelena Dokic)

Going from a life filled with abuse to a life of triumph and purpose (w/ Jelena Dokic)

We have come a long way. Ten years ago when this podcast began, would we as a society have been ready to hear Jelena Dokic’s story?
Australia watched and cheered as Jelena Dokic dominated international tennis. From the outside it seemed as though Jelena had everything. But behind the scenes, a lot more was going on.
There were clues, but the media and society at the time made a joke of them.
Jelena Dokic has revealed her truth in her new book ‘Fearless’. Jelena is honest, open and has begun a conversation that will help all of us to break stigmas, own our stories and keep going.

Content warning: this conversation contains mention of suicide, abuse and trauma. If you or anyone you know needs support, please call Lifeline on 13 11 14.

The day my ego and arrogance got caught with a rusty hook

The day my ego and arrogance got caught with a rusty hook

Have you ever gone through an intersection while driving tired late at night and only when it was behind you did the explosion of adrenaline alert you to the fact that you almost had an accident?

In this episode Osher tells a tale of running through a massive stop sign while he was still drinking and using, describes the wreckage that followed, and the repair work that needed to happen (and continues to this day)

Perhaps this story will help you recognise a stop sign you’ve missed in your own life, or help understand why the person you’ve been trying to send a warning sign to might not be listening.

We only get one chance to kiss someone for the first time, yet here is a way to recreate that marvellous moment every day

After Linda Marigliano’s episode on Wednesday, Osher was on a mission to recapture that wonderful feeling of a first kiss.

Using something his shrink taught him years ago, Osher explains how to increase the release of the ‘love hormone’ oxytocin when kissing to the point you’ll be singing that song “feels like the first time”.

People pleasing, Pandemics, and the most wonderful love story you’ve heard in ages (w/Linda Marigliano)

People pleasing, Pandemics, and the most wonderful love story you’ve heard in ages (w/Linda Marigliano)

Everyone has a story about how we were affected by the Covid Pandemic. In this episode, Osher speaks with broadcaster and DJ Linda Marigliano about being stuck in Australia, away from the man she fell in love with and not knowing if they’d ever make it.

This all happened while she grappled not only her own fertility journey, but working around a life-long tendency to be a people pleaser.

Linda’s has a new book “Love language” and an award-winning documentary podcast “tough love”.

Thanks Osher ,

Worlds collide!

Love your stuff Osher. I have been watching mighty car mods youtube video for years and also your podcast. Not really a fan of your tv shows but that’s ok. But then you come together for a chat.?.. amazing. The honesty from yourself and guests you have on is really great and helps me quite a bit. So the episode with Blair from mighty car mods was so good. I kind of knew about his music career but wow! What a legend you both are. Thanks for the chats and sharing it with the world. Five stars Osher!

Educational, Entertaining and a must listen

Osher conducts conversations openly and warmly with respect to the other person. He is super smart but more than that makes it easy to listen, form opinions and I feel a whole lot smarter listening to him! I enjoy this podcast and the latest with Grace Tame my favourite to date.

Great, but…

RE Nov preview : Violence is committed by all genders. Raising boys AND girls in ways that respect genders is what matters. Violence is more than just physical, it’s also emotional, psychological, verbal, etc. It’s any behaviour intended to harm. All genders need to take responsibility for this and all parents need to see that when it comes to acts of violence raising boys is no different to raising girls because both can be perpetrators. There is a misconception out there that males are always perpetrators and females are always victims but this is not the case because males don’t report DV when it happens (for several reasons) so the data is biased. The sooner we remove gender from the popular discourse that always assumes that males are perpetrators and females are victims the better because it is making us blind to the real causes and the scale of the problem.
