June 16, 2024 Paws and Purrs: We Bless Our Animal Friends Rev. R. Morrison, Service Leader: Brandie-Moller-Reid Chimes Welcome and Announcements Land Acknowledgement Prelude Chalice Lighting All Animal Chalice by Mark Causey We light this chalice, spark of the original fire of creation, to remind us that we all on the planet – the furred, the feathered, the finned, and the scaled, along with us featherless bipeds – we are all made of the same star-stuff and all share a common destiny. We all share the same hopes of a life free from harm and suffering, and the same aspirations of happiness, love, and flourishing – being able to express our own unique natures and capacities as best we may. We are just that many diverse perspectives from which the whole is seen and experienced. We are inextricably intertwined, interconnected, and interdependent. And it is good. That which is worthy of repeating, speak with a clear voice. That which is worthy of remembering, hold in your hearts. And that which is worthy of remembering, hold in your hearts. And that which is worthy of living, go and live it now. Benediction A Holy and Generous Love by Elena Westbrook Go in hope, for the arc of the universe is long and we can bend it toward justice. Go in courage, for together we have the strength to confront injustice in our daily lives and the larger world. Go in love, because a holy and generous love is both the reason and means by which we transform our lives. Carry the Flame Postlude A Place in the Choir – Lyrics Chorus All God's critters got a place in the choir Some sing low, some sing higher Some sing out loud on the telephone wire And some just clap their hands, or paws or anything they got now Listen to the bass, it's the one on the bottom Where the bullfrog croaks and the hippopotamus Moans and groans with a big to do And the old cow just goes, 'Moo' Chorus All God's critters got a place in the choir Some sing low, some sing higher Some sing out loud on the telephone wire And some just clap their hands, or paws or anything they got now Well, the dogs and the cats they take up the middle The honeybee hums and the crickets fiddle The donkey brays and the pony neighs The old coyote howls Chorus All God's critters got a place in the choir Some sing low, some sing higher Some sing out loud on the telephone wire And some just clap their hands, or paws or anything they got now Listen to the top where the little bird sings The melody with the high notes ringing The hoot owl hollers over everything And the jaybird disagrees Chorus All God's critters got a place in the choir Some sing low, some sing higher Some sing out loud on the telephone wire And some just clap their hands, or paws or anything they got now It’s a simple song of living sung ev’ry where By the ox and the fox and grizzly bear. The grumpy alligator and hawk above, The sly raccoon and the turtle dove. Chorus (sing 2x) All God's critters got a place in the choir Some sing low, some sing higher Some sing out loud on the telephone wire And some just clap their hands, or paws or anything they got now
