The realistic side of entrepreneurship: The ups and downs of running your own business (that bits nobody talks about)

The realistic side of entrepreneurship: The ups and downs of running your own business (that bits nobody talks about)

Hello hello everyone! & Welcome back!

In today's episode, I get to speak to a very very special person Stepha Doyle (She/her) (@lovestepha), brand photographer + co-founder of Day Dream Dream Day (@daydreamdreamday) (and all 'round bad ass babe!).

Apart from being (I believe) one of the most incredible humans to walk this planet, Stepha is also a fellow entrepreneur & business owner & just an all-round incredible human being whose superpower is exploring vulnerable conversations and cultivating community.

Today Stepha and I sat down to discuss absolutely nothing related to menstrual health (*gasp* shock, I know!) but instead, the realistic side to running your own business. The ups & downs. The highs & lows. Basically, all the stuff no one talks about (not even business-owner to business-owner!).

    In this episode we cover:

    Navigating the lows of business
    The inevitable ups and downs
Our own personal tips and tricks or when you're in the 'funk'.
What NOT to do when you hit a low spot (*based on our own opinion and our own toolkits).
Our own personal highs and lows

Our hope is that this conversation offers consolation for fellow entrepreneurs (or entrepreneur-to be), to help you not feel so alone on this journey.

Surgery for Endometriosis: everything you need to know about your laparoscopy

Surgery for Endometriosis: everything you need to know about your laparoscopy

In this episode, I cover off everything you need to know about surgery for Endometriosis.

As a Naturopath predominantly treating Endometriosis (and also having Endo myself, diagnosed via laparoscopy in August 2021!), this is something I work with clients on a LOT.

Unfortunately, there's a not a lot of education around different quality surgeries and what to expect, so this episode is a must-listen if you're going for surgery (or have previously been!).

    In this episode, I chat:

    Different types of surgery
Excision vs Ablation (and why you should know what these mean!)
The importance of finding yourself a good surgeon
How to actually find a good surgeon
Public vs Private system for surgery
What to pack for the hospital
My top Naturopathic pre- and post- surgery tips
The role of Naturopathy in the Endometriosis and surgery journey
PLUS the most important thing you should know about surgery (that no one tells you)

If you have suspected Endometriosis or are preparing for surgery, you can book in for you free 15 discovery call here

Navigating my period in our relationship: Fertility Awareness Method + supporting someone with Endometriosis.

Welcome back to another episode of Period Talk with Emi!

Today we got back on my partner Joel (he/him) (who you all met in season 1!) to take our chats about menstrual cycles deeper to encourage people to start the conversation with their partners about their period.

    In this episode we chat:

How Joel supports me with my period / cycle
Specific conversations we’ve had to had throughout our relationship about my period to even the load/share the weight
Helping each other unravel our own thoughts & beliefs around menstrual blood
How the activities we do together change depending on where I am at in my cycle
Fertility Awareness Method of contraception: what it is, how it works & how to have a conversation about it with your partner
Practical tips that Joel does to help me with my period
Joels rundown of the Menstrual Cycle 101: we give him an opportunity to educate you!

This was a very wholesome, connecting chat & I’d encourage you to grab a cup of tea & tune on in!

Treating periods from a Chinese medicine perspective

Treating periods from a Chinese medicine perspective

In today’s episode, I got to chat with the very lovely & knowledgeable Lea (she/her) from @chrysalis.tcm. Lea is a Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) practitioner who chatted all about using TCM to treat periods!

    Lea & I chat:

-What is TCM? What is Acupuncture? How do the two differ?

    -How Lea got into TCM

-TCM vs Naturopathy: our thoughts on how the two differ and where they compliment each other.

-Overview of how TCM views disease/the human body

-The basics of TCM principles, what happens when things go ‘out of balance’.

-Endometriosis & other period complaints from a TCM perspective

If you’re interested in working with Lea, or want to follow along her journey, she practises from a beautiful big multimodality clinic called Contagious Enthusiasm in Hampton, Victoria. Booking can be made via Lea’s website (https://www.chrysalistcm.com), Contagious Enthusiasm Website (https://www.contagiousenthusiasm.com.au) or via phone (03) 9603 0334

Lea has also created an ‘From Yin to Yang’ set of affirmation cards (I know! Told you she was awesome!) focused on TCM. I can confirm, they are incredible! You can check them out here: https://www.chrysalistcm.com/shop

It was so great chatting to Lea. Grab a cuppa and come join us :)

    LGBTQIA+ allyship: next steps

    LGBTQIA+ allyship: next steps

Welcome back to season 2! For the first episode back, we couldn’t not bring back an OG podcast guest George Halifax (he/him) (@transitionalholistics), a transgender man who is strong voice for the rest of his community. The response to the first podcast episode with George was huge, so I got him on to chat about everything we didn’t get to cover in Season 1.

In this episode, we get chat about:

What George has been up to this past 12 months (we even got him back in the hot seat)
Contraception amongst the transgender and queer community
The use of the Oral Contraceptive Pill within the LGBTQIA+ community
‘Binding’ and ‘tucking’: what they are, how they can be dangerous
Different types of surgeries within the transgender community: George gets really vulnerable about his own surgery and journey here
    And so much more!

If you haven’t already, you can listen to our first episode together here. George and I are both so humbled and grateful by how many of you have tuned into our first episode together, thank you.

This was such a fun episode to record, and I’m sooo grateful George said YES to coming back on!

If you’re interested in working with George or following along his journey, you can find him over at:

    @transitionalholistics

    transitionalholistics@gmail.com

George also has a service involving reading over your website / practitioner content to ensure inclusivity and offers diversity tips. For more information on this, you can contact him above.
