    Patrick speaks with the director, performer, theatre-maker, and Co-Artistic Director of House of Sand, Charley Sanders. In Addition to her core practice, Charley has experience as a teacher of acting and directing, dramaturge, producer, and tour manager, and is qualified and regularly works as an audio describer for bling and low-vision audiences. Among many producing and management roles, Charley has held positions as Programs Producer for the Sydney Fringe Festival (2019-21), Pride Amplified Program Manager for Sydney WorldPride (2022), and works as a business consultant to creative entrepreneurs through Creative+Business.

    In this episode Patrick and Charley, discuss producer burnout, working in diverse communities when you as the producer may not represent that community, and working on long-time frame projects.

    Patrick speaks with Creative Producer and long-time Festival worker Joel Allan. Joel has been working in the Arts for almost two decades. In that time, he has worked on a butt-load of major Arts Festivals around the country in some way, shape, or form. Currently, Joel is based on Kaurna Yerta (Adelaide) as the Assistant Producer for the Adelaide Cabaret Festival.

    In this episode, Patrick and Joel discuss imposter syndrome while battling jobs that place responsibility on your shoulders, intense work cycles, and mental health in the arts. Reflecting on mental health largely in this conversation, just as a heads up, if you are struggling with your mental health, there are some places to reach out for help link below.

    Patrick speaks with Producer and Theatre Maker Katie Rowe. Katie has been smashing it out over the past couple of years. This year Katie has produced with Performing Lines, being the producer of Fart Fabulous (Fat Fruit Projects/Rising) and the Associate Producer of YES (The Rabble/Vitalstatistix.) She was the Associate Producer for the 39th Annual Green Room Awards Ceremony in 2022 and has just spent two months overseas working as an Assitant Producer at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival (Reuben Kaye: The Butch is Back, Tina Del Twist: Caravan in the Sky & The Kaye Hole & Aboriginal Comedy Allstars) as well as working across seasons at the Soho Theatre in London. She won the Melbourne Fringe Best Emerging Producing Award supported by MILKE for her work on the sold-out season of SLUTNIK™ for Melbourne Fringe

    Patrick speaks with Independent Producer and Comedian Kimmie Lovegrove. Kimmie Lovegrove is a proud Ngarrindjeri woman from the lower Murray River and Coorong Lakes. She runs her own business Kungari Productions where she produces Kungari Comedy.

    In this episode Patrick and Kimmie discuss the start of her journey in the Comedy Industry. Discussing some of the difficulties of creating space in a white male dominated landscape. Throughout the conversation, Kimmie also explains how she manages being a Producer and Comedian during the same season, while also dealing with COVID during MICF 2022.

She is also a founding member of the Way Over There Collective – a group dedicated to increasing opportunities for artists in outer South-East Melbourne.

    Patrick speaks with Executive Producer and Co-Director of Back to Back Theatre, Tim Stitz. Tim’s recent history within the arts sector include positions at the Australian Performing Arts Market (APAM) Office, Arts Centre Melbourne and Creative Partnerships Australia. Tim was Creative Director & CEO of Chamber Made from 2013 – 2018, and was involved in raising $3.2-million for the rebuild of Melbourne’s iconic La Mama Theatre, following the devastating 2018 fire.

    In this episode Patrick and Tim discuss some shared experiences as there careers have intersected over the past few year. Reflect on some of the challenges and revival of international touring at the moment and examine grants and funding while looking at multi-faceted funding.
