    The rise of rentvesting

We know entering the property market is getting harder all the time. But, could you afford to crack the market with an entry level investment without giving up the area that you want or need to live in? That’s what this episode’s guests have done. | First, we’ll speak with Tash Etschmann, who’s in her early 20s and bought an investment property in Perth that’s paid in full by her tenants. This enables her to travel around Australia. You can find Tash on instagram @tashinvests. | We’ll also hear from Brad McLennan. Brad and his partner Jacob bought a barn in regional Victoria (yes, an actual barn) and turned it into a beautiful holiday accommodation. They’ve since gone on to buy another property which is also available to guests. In the meantime, they work and live in Melbourne. Their properties are @thebarnheathcote and @thestonehousenagambie. | Find Nicole on Instagram: @nicolehaddow and @smashedavocadoproperty | We’re talking about property in this podcast and would like to acknowledge that this series is recorded on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung Peoples. The First Year (the shit bit)

Nicole thought that once she finally secured her home things would get easier. Spoiler: they didn’t. Nicole knew she could cover the mortgage, but it was everything else (bills, body corporate fees, living expenses and property repairs) that made it tough to survive. So she took on a second role, writing the executive property column for the Australian Financial Review. That was on top of her day job at creative agency The Royals (Instagram: @theroyals). In this episode she chats to her former employer, Dave King (Instagram: @daveking) about taking on two jobs to find out what he thought about it. We’ll also hear from agent Kevin Pleysier from Hodges in Mentone, Melbourne, who talks about being realistic about your budget and what you can do to secure the right place. | Find Nicole on Instagram: @nicolehaddow and @smashedavocadoproperty | We’re talking about property in this podcast and would like to acknowledge that this series is recorded on the traditional lands of the Wadawurrung and Dja Dja Wurrung Peoples.
