    017 | Building A Referral Culture

    017 | Building A Referral Culture

Building a successful business takes time and effort. One of the integral parts of running your own business is getting more clients, which can be challenging. The good news is that it’s easy to get your biz-sass back.
In this episode, I will talk about five steps you can follow to bring more clients to your business. We will discuss why many personal trainers don’t ask for referrals and what they miss out on by doing the same. From changing your mindset to devising a referral strategy, you can take small steps to up your fitness legitness. Referrals aren’t just something you ask for- they’re a part of an entire culture.
I’m going to talk about how you can add value to your clients. Your audience adores how you can help them towards their goals. They may need rewards in return for referring other people and encouraging them to sign-up for your business. Most importantly, you’ll need to make your business such that people know you’re a true fitness queen. Your clients must come back to you because they know that you can get them the results they want.
Once you’re able to get referrals, you need to make it easy for clients to refer to you. I’ve spoken about some strategies in the podcast. From developing a mission statement to building an online business presence, there’s work that you need to do.
Listen to this podcast so that you can come one step closer to being a badass business owner. Every piece of information I share in the podcast will help. I’m not going to talk about any ‘hacks’ or ‘tricks’ or any other shit that people don’t want to know. I’ll talk about real, actionable steps that will help you change how you look at your business.
It’s time for you to give your business the recognition that it deserves.
    Highlights
(00:05:25): And honestly, the easiest place for you to start is by asking your current clients whether there are people that they know who they think would benefit from working with you in your business.
(00:08:30): You need to think about shifting your business from a referral, being seen as a negative thing into seeing the referral as a positive thing, just knowing that a referral is a natural part of your business.
(00:13:25): I'm sharing my big business vision with them. (clients) So, it's less about you, the personal trainer, or the individual. It’s more about your mission.
(00:21:30): When it comes to building out your business, the stronger your community is, the less likely it is that people will leave the community.
(00:32:01): Shout that from the rooftops, that cream rises to the top. So, you are part of that cream. You're not the skanky leftover piece of the milk at the bottom of the milk bottle.

016 | Insights From An Award Winning Fitness Educator

016 | Insights From An Award Winning Fitness Educator

Welcome back to the Fitness Legitness podcast. Every week, we talk about someone inspirational and someone who has made a difference in the field of health and fitness.
We often meet people who don’t only plan to do things. They either do something, or they don’t.
They set goals and take action. They don’t know whether they’ll get the desired results but they take action anyways. The one thing that in common with these individuals is their persistence. They challenge themselves to get better at what they do.
Mr. Jono Petroholis is one of those people, and I’m so pumped to have him on the show with us.
Jono started his journey as a personal trainer/bootcamp owner and now runs the biggest education platform for personal trainers. Jono talks about two critical aspects of any successful business enterprise.
The first thing that he talks about is standing out from the crowd. The second aspect is having the right mindset.
In this episode, we talk about how Jono was able to upskill his fitness legitness. Jono shares how he was able to differentiate himself from other personal trainers and add value to his clients.
His insights in the field of sales and marketing are eye-openers that will benefit your business immediately.
Jono saw two paths in front of him: the easy one and the difficult one. The easy path involved staying the same and blaming everyone else.  The difficult path meant taking accountability for his actions and investing in himself.
    Jono chose the difficult way.
Not only did he invest time and efforts in marketing, but he also strived to become the best trainer that he could be. He talks about what it takes to survive in the health and fitness industry, and be better than your competitors.
There’s a lot of valuable information in this podcast. Listen to it so that you can unlock the secrets to developing a healthy mindset and getting your biz-sass back.
    Highlights
(00:07:30): You know, maybe it's not the competition's fault that you're coming 75th. Maybe it's your fault that you haven't done enough to be better than the competition.
(00:15:10): I was like, the reason why I'm successful at bootcamp is I love it. The way I'm training. I like being around people. I just need to share what I love doing. And that led me to, to the core side of things.
(00: 40:00): Hey, if 99% of people aren't going to do it, great, I'm going to do it. And that's, what's going to push me ahead.
(00:42:50): If you're not ask yourself that question and write it down, write down the reasons why you're not successful. If any of those reasons are blaming anyone else, but yourself, you're gone.

015 | Becoming A Master Trainer Rahz Slaughter

015 | Becoming A Master Trainer Rahz Slaughter

Raising Your Game From Hobbyist To Master It's been a hard, strange and frustrating 2020 for Fitness Businesses.  COVI-19 has forced you to change the way you operate.  You've had to adapt and evolve quickly in an uncertain environment, and unfortunately, just because you're surviving now, it doesn't mean to say you will in the near future.
The entire fitness landscape has shifted; people's buying choices have changed and competition has risen.
If you are still in business give yourself a massive pat on the back, because many didn't make it through the forced lockdowns.  For some, COVID-19 was a great reason to jump anyways.
For others, COVID just exposed the holes and weak points in their business which lead to their decline.
The world is still reeling from the impact of COVID and we probably won't have our feet back on the ground properly, or running full businesses until 2021 (or even later!).  That means NOW is the time to think about how you want to be operating in the future.
It's a great time for reflection.
In this value packed episode with Rahz Slaughter we jam on these points as well as how to become a Master Trainer (not just a hobbyist).
Rahz is a badass business coach for boutique gym owners where he specialises in 3 key area’s, sales, marketing and customer service. Rahz is also an author of the bestselling book “the one hour trainer’, athlete and all round great human.
    Enjoy the show!

014 | Are You Obligated To Comment On Big Hot Social Topics

014 | Are You Obligated To Comment On Big Hot Social Topics

Hard Conversations For Your Brand + Business
    Download Episode Here
In this episode I explore whether you as a Fitness Professional, one who has a social media platform and brand, are obligated to comment on social/political events as they happen.
When I recorded this episode (which was about 5 weeks ago; pre giving birth) we were in the thick of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Everyone was talking about it (and for good reason!!), and I have no doubt that everyone has an opinion on it.
We saw some big brands step up to the plate in support of the movement (Nike, Cotton On, The Iconic), and they led by example, and we also saw some big brands go down in a heap of flames (Crossfit anyone?).
But it wasn't just the big brands voicing their opinion, smaller brands and individuals were adding their opinion and support.  The interwebz was FULL of stories, opinions and commentary.
Which begs the question - should you be offering your opinion/stance on extremely important and relevant topics or should you just 'stay in your lane' and stick to fitness-y stuff?
Tune in to hear my thoughts ...

    013 | Butt Sex + Storytelling

    013 | Butt Sex + Storytelling

Why Fit Pro's Need To Master The Art Of Storytelling In Their Business How do you build a brand off the back of butt sex?  No, this isn't the start of a lame joke, but a real question that sets the tone for todays episode.
I am absolutely pumped to have on the show, John Romaniello.
Now my assumption is that if you've been in the fitness industry for a while, you will know who this guy is. If you don't, the chances are exceptionally high that you have come across one of his articles or one of his creations at some point in the fitness industry.  He has created literally hundreds and thousands of pieces of fitness business and fitness oriented education writing for the likes of T-Nation, Mens Fitness and Shape.
But the reason I've got him onto the show today is because he is a storyteller, a writing mentor and he teaches people to write like it matters.
I wanted him to explain and share why storytelling is so crucial for fitness professionals, more so now than ever before, and how you can use storytelling and increase your writing skills so that you can attract the right people into your business.
We jam on this all throughout the show plus we go on many other tangents.
Before you tune in, here's Johns official bio:
John is an author, angel investor, media personality and consultant who helps entrepreneurs improve communication skills and increase revenue through writing.
While known across multiple industries John has written hundreds of articles covering topics from business and marketing to fitness and self development. And he is the author of the New York times best selling book Engineering The Alpha.
In 2015 John founded wellspring media, a consulting company, focused on helping increase income and influence through effective branding and storytelling.
He currently serves as an advisor to nearly a dozen companies, freelancers as a ghost writer and a copy doctor and offers services as a writing mentor, a consultant, helping content creators become better writers.
    Enjoy the show!!

Nardia is LEGIT

While I might be more biased than most, Nardia's content for female fit-pros is second to none. Literally a powerhouse in personality and business mentorship for women, Nardia's content is super practical, fun, insightful, and useable.
I cannot recommend this highly enough for women wanting to transform their PT business or skillset.
Fan boy right here.

Dancin'inmykitchen ,
