He specializes in animal studies, the history and philosophy of science, theories of consciousness, and 20th century French philosophy. He is the author ofWhen Animals Dream: The Hidden World of Animal Consciousness, and co-author of Chimpanzee Rights: The Philosophers’ Brief.
