Dan Neuffer author of CFS Unravelled and creator of the ANS REWIRE recovery program shares his knowledge on healing and recovery from ME, CFS, Fibromyalgia, POTS & MCS. Episodes include discussions as well as interviews with recovered patients and expert practitioners.
E11: Neuroscientist Dr Delia McCabe reveals key diet strategies for brain health & illness recovery
Neuroscientist Dr. Delia McCabe shares her understanding and research into the impact of diet on brain health, mental health and recovery from chronic illness.
How much of mental and neurological dysfunction is a physical and how much is a psychological issue? What is the impact of adverse childhood events on stress resilience and what about eating vegan, vegetarian or other restrictive diets.
Evidence-based information for anyone seeking recovery from chronic illness in this deep dive episode into brain function for stress resilience.
E 10: Alexandra shares her success with ANS REWIRE for mould illness and CFS recovery
When you try all the treatments you find out about, and keep receiving different diagnoses, it can be a harrowing experience.
Alexandra shares her difficult decisions in her quest to recover from mould illness and chronic fatigue syndrome and how despite a 'brain-training' program not helping her, she decided to try ANS REWIRE anyway and succeeded with her recovery.
E9: Choose Your World in the Context of Chronic Illness Recovery
In this episode Claudia and Dan talk about that moment in her recovery where she "chose her world".
We discuss practical and psychological aspects of where we place our focus whilst chronically ill and some of the fascinating neuroscience behind the practice of visualisation.
Strategies, impacts and much more about shifting our focus from illness to health.
E8: Kristin shares recovery story from MECFS POTS MCS and PTSD Bulimia
Finding out how to recover from CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome or ME/CFS) as well as Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) and MCS seemed downright impossible when nobody seems to know what's wrong with you.
Kristin shares her CFS recovery story in this wonderful detailed interview and talks about the treatments she tried, the ups and downs, her relapses and the constant expansion of diagnoses and symptoms.
We discuss her first remission from CFS/POTS/MCS and how she ended up relapsing again.
So how does she turn it all around? Kristin tells her story of changing her CFS recovery approach and delving deeper to unravel PTSD and Bulimia that she had been dealing with for many years to reach full health.
It's a long and detailed interview, so check it out in parts and gain from her wisdom in your time.
E7: Discovery of New Effective Fibromyalgia Treatment by Scientist who shares Chronic Pain Insights
In this episode, world-renowned fibromyalgia researcher Professor Dr. Kati Thieme shares her research and understanding of the root cause of fibromyalgia. She tells of how her theoretical research accidentally led to the discovery of an effective treatment for fibromyalgia called Systolic Extinction Training (SET), which when combined with psychological brain-training strategies, is very effective in resolving chronic pain in fibromyalgia and other conditions.
Professor Dr Kati Thieme explains how blood pressure and baroreceptor sensitivity relays to the autonomic nervous system (ANS) in the brainstem via the NTS nucleus, and how this part of the brain becomes 'blind' to the data from the body leading to dysregulation or dysautonomia as well as chronic pain.
We discuss heart rate variability in this context as well as problems around fibromyalgia research and why a tailored approach to recovery is required, plus much more.
E6: Gaining wisdom from conversations with 100s of people that recovered from Fibromyalgia, POTS, ME/CFS & MCS
After speaking with 100s of people that have found a way to cure their Fibromyalgia, POTS, ME/CFS and MCS, there are many learnings to be shared.
Raelan Agle who also shares recovery interviews on her YouTube channel was the ideal person to join me for a conversation about recovery.
We discuss what we learned from our interviews, commonalities around the onset of illness, how rare recoveries may or may not be and some of the pitfalls people experience, plus much more.
A great resource for ME sufferers!
Thanks Dan for starting this podcast. Loved the first show and I always get great insights listening to Claudia speak of her recovery. Not being focused on what other people think of you particularly resonated with me. Looking forward to more episodes. Thanks so much.
