TRT 101: What It's REALLY Like To Be On Testosterone Replacement Therapy

The frequently asked questions about testosterone replacement therapy (TRT). They cover topics such as the benefits of TRT, determining if TRT is right for you, the appropriate dosage of testosterone, the impact of TRT on fertility, the risk of gynecomastia, the need for additional medications while on TRT, the long-term use of TRT, the administration of TRT through injections or creams, and the potential side effects of TRT.   Takeaways TRT offers benefits beyond just sex drive and muscle gain, including improved mental health, bone mineral density, and cardiovascular health. The decision to start TRT should be made in consultation with a healthcare provider, taking into account individual symptoms and overall health. The appropriate dosage of testosterone should be determined by a healthcare provider and may need to be adjusted over time based on individual response. TRT is not birth control. Gynecomastia is not caused by testosterone, but individuals with pre-existing gynecomastia may experience a flare-up when starting TRT. It is important to avoid unnecessary medications some clinics use to “mitigate side effects” and focus on dosing, frequency, overall health and lifestyle improvements. TRT is typically a long-term treatment and should not be thought of as a trial. The ideal way to administer TRT can be done through injections or creams, and the choice depends on compliance, individual preference and response. Patience and consistency are key when starting TRT, as it may take time for the body to adjust and for optimal results to be achieved.   Victory Men's Health Website Click HereVictory Men's Health YouTube Dave Lee TRT FAQ DownloadFor questions email podcast@amystuttle.com Disclaimer: The Women Want Strong Men Podcast is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute the practice of medicine, nursing or other professional health care services, including the giving of medical advice, and no doctor/patient relationship is formed. He also talks about the often-overlooked impact of mold exposure on health and the critical role of detoxification in addressing mold-related issues.   A key part of the conversation is methylation, a process essential for regulating genetic expression, energy production, neurotransmitter synthesis, and detoxification. Umahro emphasizes that while methylation is important, it should be considered within the broader context of overall health to avoid misguided treatments. Additionally, he highlights the significant benefits of supplementing with vitamin D, magnesium, omega-3s, and creatine, as well as the positive impact of low-intensity cardio training on mitochondrial health and longevity.   Chapters:00:00Introduction and Background02:03Biohacking Tips for Jet Lag07:41Personal Journey: Overcoming Health Challenges14:20The Role of Genetics in Functional Medicine17:09The Impact of Mold Exposure on Health25:37Understanding Methylation33:30The Role of Vitamin D and Inflammation40:32Essential Supplements for Optimal Health46:47The Overlooked Benefits of Low-Intensity Cardio Training   Umahro's Website Click Here Rupa Health Website Click Here Victory Men's Health Website Click Here Victory Men's Health YouTube For questions email podcast@amystuttle.com   Disclaimer: The Women Want Strong Men Podcast is for general informational purposes only and does not constitute the practice of medicine, nursing or other professional health care services, including the giving of medical advice, and no doctor/patient relationship is formed. How We Test Cardiovascular Risk with Cardiologist Dr. Michael Twyman

Every 40 seconds, someone has a heart attack. Heart attacks are the leading cause of death worldwide, with 18 million people dying each year from cardiovascular disease.   In this episode, we dive deep into the limitations of the standard lipid panel and explore why most doctors rely on it for prescribing statins. We discuss the importance of measuring the particles that transport cholesterol, such as Apo-B and LP(a), rather than just cholesterol levels. Additionally, we examine the impact of disruptors like mouthwash and antacid medication on nitric oxide production and arterial health.   We also highlight the cardiovascular testing Victory offers for their patients, including Advanced Lipid Panels, MaxPulse, SphygmoCor, and Carotid Artery Scans. Tune in to learn more about how these advanced tests can provide a more comprehensive understanding of your cardiovascular health.   Takeaways The standard lipid panel has limitations and may not provide a comprehensive analysis of cholesterol levels and cardiovascular risk. Measuring the particles that transport cholesterol, such as Apo-B and LP(a), is important for predicting cardiovascular risk. The Boston Heart Lab panel offers a more advanced analysis of lipoproteins, oxidative stress, inflammation, and nitric oxide production. Lifestyle changes, including dietary modifications and nitric oxide support, can be effective alternatives to statins. The HeartSmart ultrasound scan provides information about arterial age and plaque buildup, helping to assess cardiovascular risk. The Max Pulse test measures arterial elasticity and can indicate the presence of arterial stiffness and dysfunction. Central aortic blood pressure measurement is important for evaluating cardiovascular health and guiding treatment decisions. Disruptors like mouthwash and antacid medication can negatively impact nitric oxide production and arterial health. The future of cardiovascular imaging holds promise for more precise assessment of plaque and improved treatment strategies. Reversing plaque buildup is possible through lifestyle changes, nitric oxide promotion, and lipid-lowering therapies. Nutrition, fitness, strength training, protein consumption, and fiber intake. In this conversation, Amy Stuttle interviews nutrition coach Aram Grigorian. They discuss various topics related to nutrition and fitness, including strength training, protein consumption, and fiber intake.    Takeaways Strength training is essential for improving body composition, aging well, and maintaining independence. Protein intake should be based on individual needs and can be divided among meals throughout the day. Fiber is important for digestive health and should be included in every meal.  Aim for 3-5 grams of fiber per meal to support bowel health and fat loss. Choosing high-quality protein sources and preparing meals in advance can help meet nutritional goals.
