Management involves surgery, but in this episode we cover an overview of the presentation and the roles of different multidisciplinary team members.

Febrile Neutropaenia | an oncological emergency

Febrile neutropaenia is an emergency situation that can occur in patients with cancer. It is when they have very low levels of the white blood cell neutrophils, plus a fever. The main concern when these two things go together is that the person can easily and quickly develop sepsis.

Dance student ,

Accessible and engaging teaching

Thank you for explaining concepts and clinical applications in easy-to-understand terms, and for making it conversational enough that listeners won’t zone out! I’m PGY2 and feel as though I’ve lost a lot of theoretical knowledge since graduating, but listening to your podcast in the car has allowed me to revise and consolidate so much of what I learnt in medical school with what I’ve seen at work. Also, listening to your WPW episode was literally the first time I’ve properly understood re-entrant tachycardias!

Mridula4 ,

Incredible teaching!!

Thank you so much for breaking down these important topics for us and discussing local Australian Guidelines– it has been sooo helpful as a medical student

Lil bud and big bud ,

Amazing podcast, for nurses as well!

I’m a fairly new listener, and a RN as well! I work in a regional hospital SCN and I love the neonatal content. It’s such a nice refresher and I’ve learnt so much as well! Having an understanding of what my medical colleagues are looking for has helped my practice and I’ve been able to assess a baby more thoroughly and give more information when paging and discussing a patient with my Reg or resident. You are both very funny and I enjoy the laugh as well!
