Episode 12: Popular Country Music Timeline, Part Three: 1812-1849 (Pre-Country Music)

Cedar Country

Howdy! Welcome to the Cedar Country podcast, where we talk about country music! Hosted by Ray and RJ from the Dungeons & Dragons podcast Realms & Nerds!

A few warnings for this episode: First and foremost, we do discuss a few songs that contain racist themes and elements. As always, we do this as a means to educate on history. Second, this episode was recorded during a timeframe when our microphone mixing board accidentally had some knobs turned up on some reverb effects, which can't be removed easily in post, so that's why things sound echoey at points.

In our twelfth episode, we continue our journey through the history of popular country music songs. However, we're still way back in 1812-1849 (between approximately 106-69 years before country music's official inception). Essentially, we're looking at popular (at the time they were published, at least) music that helped lead the way to the birth of country music.
