Todays topic: Vel Omarr. The Sam Cooke of Our Time. Vel truly is the Sam Cooke of our time. Everyone that has heard him knows it. I don’t know anyone that is singing like Sam Cooke in soul music like Vel. Mr. Omarr can sing and sound just like Sam Cooke. He has his own songs like: “How Can I Make You Mine”, “Trouble Blues”, “Still My Love Grows”, & “If I should Get To Heaven” just to name a few. Vel Omarr has natural singing talent. He’s someone I wouldn’t really call an impersonator. Vel has too much talent. When he sings, it’s really him singing. It’s really his voice. He just happened to sound like Sam Cooke. We need his voice & talent & style in this day and age because Vel Omarr is about what is real in music. If you have been following Vel on his Youtube channel, you know what he has said. Soul Music is a spiritual thing, and therefore, Soul Music will never die. Vel has said that soul music ain’t dead, and he is proving it. He has a song: Soul Music ain’t dead. If you’re following Vel on Facebook, last night there was a live interview on him and some of his great music and great covers of the legendary Sam Cooke. The interview was done by Studio Buzz - host “WB”. To learn more about the soul artist Vel Omarr, go to vel-omarr.com.

    Tribute Artists - 5:10:21, 3.08 PM

Story by: Gail Nobles Hello everyone. Thank you for listening to lounge show legends. It is said that there won’t be another James Brown, but that doesn’t mean that there isn’t anyone else out there like him. James Brown endorsed a man by the name of Tony Wilson. He’s known as the young James Brown. There is another man whose real name is James Brown. He calls himself King James Brown. Both these guys are tribute artists and pays tribute to The Godfather of soul. We also have the son of Jackie Wilson whose name is Bobby Brooks Wilson. He’s a lot like his father and is the living legend of his father. There are so many imitators. I’ve only named out a few. There are some tribute artists that can look and sound so much like the original entertainers. People seem to enjoy them. I enjoy them. When I first started the Lounge Show, it wasn’t just about tribute artists. It was about talented artists that have the old fashioned music and style. I consider them as legends too carrying on the old style of music with their talent. They were artists that really had a voice to sing. God has given so many people a lot of talent. There is always somebody out there that is just as good as the best or better. They just haven’t been discovered or couldn’t make it like the ones before them. Great talent is still here, but we need people that will want and recognize great talent. We don’t see many people today like Ed Sullivan and Allen Freed. Those men enjoyed great talent and they recognized great talent. We don’t have Dick Clark’s American Bandstand anymore or Don Cornelius from Soul Train. Those were the days when we got to see all of our favorite singers on television. Today’s Music, Radio, and Television has changed. We’re living in a different era and time. But it’s so great to have those tribute artists to carry on the sound of the past that so many still love.
