Kenne Sie sich mit schwedischer Landwirtschaft aus? Zum Beginn des schwedischen EU-Ratsvorsitzes nimmt 'Nahrung für Europa' Sie mit auf Entdeckungsreise einer Landwirtschaft voller Kontraste, deren Unterschiede von Geografie, Klima und Nachhaltigkeit geprägt sind.

Im Norden, in Norrbotten, das für sein raues Klima und seine kargen Böden bekannt ist, erzählen uns Hulda Wirsen und Johan Liljebäck, ein junges Milchbauernpaar, von den Veränderungen auf ihrem Hof, ihrem nachhaltigen Aunbau und ihren Plänen für die Zukunft. Sie erzählen auch von ihrer Sorge, dass die Aufgabe von Höfen in der Region der Biodiversität schadet.

Im Süden, in den fruchtbaren Ebenen der Region Schonen, erklärt uns Hans Ramel, Landwirt und Züchter, die Auswirkungen des Klimawandels auf seine Aktivitäten, und wie wichtig es ist, den Landwirten zu vertrauen, dass sie die Anforderungen des Sektors gewissenhaft umsetzen.

Im Studio schließlich spricht Lars Olsson, Koordinator der schwedischen Ratspräsidentschaft der EU für Landwirtschaft, mit uns über die Stärken der Landwirtschaft im Königreich und die Herausforderungen, die es zu meistern gilt. Außerdem werden die Prioritäten des schwedischen Strategieplans im Rahmen der Gemeinsamen Agrarpolitik überprüft.

Au nord, dans le Norrbotten connu pour la rudesse de son climat et la pauvreté de ses sols, Hulda Wirsen et Johan Liljebäck, un jeune couple de producteurs laitiers, nous racontent les transformations de leur exploitation, leurs pratiques durables et leurs projets d’avenir. Ils nous confient également leurs inquiétudes quant aux abandons de fermes, aux conséquences néfastes pour la biodiversité.

Au sud, dans les plaines fertiles de Scanie, Hans Ramel, cultivateur-éleveur, nous explique l’impact du changement climatique sur ses activités et l’importance de faire confiance aux agriculteurs pour rendre plus vertueuses les pratiques du secteur.

En studio enfin, Lars Olsson, Coordinateur de la Présidence suédoise du Conseil de l’UE pour l’agriculture, nous parle des forces de l’agriculture du royaume et des défis à relever. Il revient également sur les priorités du Plan stratégique de la Suède dans le cadre de la Politique agricole commune.

What do you know about Swedish agriculture? It’s a question Food for Europe is asking in this edition of the programme, following the country’s assumption of the revolving presidency of the Council of the European Union. The picture we paint is one of contrasts, shaped by geology, climate and sustainability.

In the north, in Norrbotten where the climate is harsh and the soils unpromising, Hulda Wirsen and Johan Liljebäck, a young couple who farm dairy cattle, tell us about the transformations they’re among ro their farm, their commitment to sustainability and their aspirations for the future. They also share with us their concerns related to the growing number of abandoned farms in their area, and the consequences for biodiversity.

In the south, in the fertile plains of Scania, Hans Ramel, a farmer who heads the local farmers’ association, informs us about the effects of climate change on his production and his belief in the need to trust farmers to promote more environmentally friendly practices in the sector.

Our studio guest is Lars Olsson, agriculture coordinator of the Swedish presidency of the Council, who gives us an overview of the strengths of farming in Sweden and the challenges it faces. He also shares with us the priorities of the Swedish strategic plan in the context of the EU Common Agricultural Policy.

Berlin International Green Week opened its doors on the twentieth of January, and for Food for Europe it’s a great opportunity to discuss the European Union’s new Common Agricultural Policy, or CAP, with farmers, interest groups, and representatives of the EU institutions including the Commission and the Parliament – in this, our twenty-sixth edition.
