    Pour son dernier podcast de l’année 2024, Nourrir l’Europe vous emmène aux « EU Agri Food Days » - les journées européennes de l’agroalimentaire, événement phare du secteur organisé par la Direction générale de l'agriculture et du développement rural de la Commission européenne. Du 10 au 12 décembre, quelque 700 personnes venues de 56 pays se sont réunies pour débattre des questions qui affecteront le nouveau mandat quinquennal de l'UE. Le 49ème épisode du podcast de la DG Agri dédié à l’agriculture, aux zones rurales et à l’alimentation, vous donne un aperçu de l’événement. Magdalena Esterhammer, une « Farmfluencer » autrichienne, évoque le pouvoir de la narration dans l'agriculture, notamment pour informer les consommateurs sur le quotidien de ceux qui produisent leur nourriture. Elle plaide par ailleurs en faveur de la mise en place d’un réseau dédié aux agriculteurs pour partager des bonnes pratiques et relever des défis communs. Katharina Schobersberger, jeune agricultrice et vice-présidente du Conseil européen des jeunes agriculteurs (CEJA), appelle de ses vœux des mesures fortes en faveur de la stabilité des revenus dans l’agriculture ainsi que des objectifs politiques clairs pour les jeunes agriculteurs. Jean-Matthieu Thévenot, jeune maraîcher membre de la coordination européenne des petits exploitants agricoles, Via Campesina (ECVC), insiste sur l’importance cruciale de salaires justes, de l'accès à la terre et de la formation pour attirer les jeunes agriculteurs vers les carrières agricoles et garantir la souveraineté alimentaire de l’UE. John Helming, coordinateur du projet MINDSTEP financé par l'UE, souligne comment la recherche et développement peut soutenir l'élaboration de politiques fondées sur des données probantes pour une agriculture compétitive et durable. Elli Tsiforou, secrétaire générale du COPA-COGECA, souligne le rôle de la digitalisation dans l'équilibre entre durabilité et rentabilité de l’agriculture. Elle appelle à investir dans des solutions pratiques pour favoriser l'adoption des nouvelles technologies par les agriculteurs. Enfin, Catherine Geslain-Lannéelle, directrice de la stratégie et de l'analyse politique à la DG AGRI, souligne que le dialogue et la coopération sont les pierres angulaires de l'élaboration des politiques futures.

    For this final podcast of 2024, Food for Europe takes you to the EU Agri Food Days - the flagship event bringing together stakeholders all along the agri-food chain , organised by the European Commission’s Directorate General for Agriculture and Rural Development. From December 10-12, some 700 people from 56 countries gathered to debate the issues that will affect EU’s agriculture for the next five-year mandate and beyond. This week’s podcast gives you a flavour of the event. Magdalena Esterhammer, a Farmfluencer from Austria, discusses the power of storytelling in farming, where farmfluencers help bridge the knowledge gap between consumers and agriculture, while advocating for a strong network of farmers to share experiences and tackle common challenges. Katharina Schobersberger, young farmer and Vice-President of the European Council of Young Farmers (CEJA), advocates for better incentives, income stability, and clear policy goals for young farmers. Jean Matthieu Thévenot, young vegetable farmer and member of the Coordinating Committee of the European Connection Via Campesina (ECVC), calls for fair wages, access to land, and training to attract young farmers and ensure food sovereignty. Dr. John Helming, project coordinator of the EU-funded project MINDSTEP, emphasises how R&I can support evidence-based policymaking for a competitive and sustainable agriculture. Elli Tsiforou, Secretary-General at COPA-COGECA, emphasizes digitalization's role in balancing sustainability for farmers, urging investments and practical solutions for adoption. Finally, Catherine Geslain-Lannelle, Director of Strategy & Policy analysis at DG AGRI, highlights dialogue and cooperation as cornerstones of future policy development.

    Im letzten Podcast des Jahres 2024 nimmt Sie „Nahrung für Europa“ mit zu den „EU Agri Food Days“ - den Europäischen Tagen der Agrar- und Ernährungswirtschaft, einer führenden Veranstaltung der Branche, die von der Generaldirektion Landwirtschaft und ländliche Entwicklung der Europäischen Kommission organisiert wird. Vom 10. bis 12. Dezember trafen sich rund 700 Personen aus 56 Ländern, um über Themen zu diskutieren, die das neue fünfjährige Mandat der EU beeinflussen werden. Die 49. Folge des Podcasts der GD Landwirtschaft zum Thema Landwirtschaft, ländliche Gebiete und Ernährung gibt Ihnen einen Einblick in die Veranstaltung. Magdalena Esterhammer, eine österreichische „Farmfluencerin“, spricht über die Macht des Geschichtenerzählens in der Landwirtschaft, insbesondere um die Verbraucher über den Alltag derer zu informieren, die ihre Lebensmittel produzieren. John Helming, Koordinator des von der EU finanzierten Projekts MINDSTEP, betont, wie Forschung und Entwicklung die Entwicklung einer evidenzbasierten Politik für eine wettbewerbsfähige und nachhaltige Landwirtschaft unterstützen können.     Le 1er décembre 2024, une nouvelle Commission européenne a pris ses fonctions à Bruxelles. Christophe Hansen est le nouveau commissaire chargé de l'agriculture et de l’alimentation. Il sera responsable d'un large éventail de politiques qui façonnent l'agriculture, soutiennent les communautés rurales et aident les agriculteurs à continuer à produire des denrées alimentaires de qualité pour l'Europe et au-delà. L'agriculture représentant environ un tiers du budget de l'Union européenne, la candidature de Christophe Hansen a fait l’objet d'un examen minutieux. Le poste exige en effet à la fois une capacité à trouver des terrains d'entente, un talent d'écoute authentique, mais aussi des reins solides pour résister aux pressions. Candidat du Luxembourg à la nouvelle Commission, Christophe Hansen est un ancien membre du Parlement européen et n'est pas étranger à la vie agricole puisqu’il a grandi dans la ferme familiale. Dans le cadre de ses nouvelles fonctions, il combinera son expérience politique avec sa passion pour l'agriculture, l'alimentation et la vie rurale.     48. Christophe Hansen: a new agriculture Commissioner takes office.

    On 1 December 2024 a new European Commission took office, with a five-year mandate to lead the European Union’s executive branch. Christophe Hansen is the new Commissioner for agriculture and food. He’ll be responsible for a broad range of policies that shape farming, support rural communities, and help farmers continue producing quality food for Europe and beyond. With agriculture accounting for roughly a third of the European Union’s budget, it’s a job that brings with it scrutiny and pressure – and demands both an ability to seek common ground and a talent for listening. Mr Hansen, the nominee of Luxembourg to the new Commission, is a former Member of the European Parliament and is no stranger to farm life. His new job will combine his political experience with a passion for farming, food and rural life that comes from growing up on his family’s farm. Christophe Hansen sat down with Food for Europe for this 48th episode to share with us more about his background, his vision and the challenges he wants to confront in office.

    Am 1. Dezember 2024 hat eine neue Europäische Kommission, die für fünf Jahre die Exekutive der Europäischen Union leiten wird, ihr Amt angetreten. Christophe Hansen ist der neue Kommissar für Landwirtschaft und Ernährung. Er wird für ein breites Spektrum von politischen Maßnahmen zuständig sein, die die Landwirtschaft prägen, ländliche Gemeinden unterstützen und den Landwirten dabei helfen, weiterhin hochwertige Lebensmittel für Europa und darüber hinaus zu erzeugen. Da rund ein Drittel des EU-Haushalts auf die Landwirtschaft entfällt, ist dies eine Aufgabe, die viel öffentliche Aufmerksamkeit und Druck mit sich bringt - und sowohl die Fähigkeit erfordert, eine gemeinsame Basis zu suchen, als auch das Talent des Zuhörens. Hansen, der Kandidat Luxemburgs für die neue Kommission, ist ein ehemaliges Mitglied des Europäischen Parlaments , dem das landwirtschaftliche Leben nicht fremd ist. In seiner neuen Aufgabe wird er seine politische Erfahrung mit seiner Leidenschaft für Landwirtschaft, Lebensmittel und das Leben im ländlichen Raum verbinden, die er während seines Aufwachsens auf dem landwirtschaftlichen Betrieb seiner Familie erworben hat.     Networking in agriculture, and in rural areas in general, is hardly talked about and the effects are difficult to measure. Nevertheless, in Europe's rural regions you meet farmers and entrepreneurs again and again who say: "Without networking, I wouldn't be where I am today". The European Commission’s Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development, DG AGRI, has therefore in 2022 launched the European CAP Network as a forum for the exchange of knowledge and information between national CAP networks, organisations, administrations, researchers, entrepreneurs and users in the fields of agriculture and rural policy. This 47th episode of 'Food for Europe' begins with an interview with Antonia Gamez Moreno, Head of the Rural Areas and Networks Unit at the European Commission's Directorate-General for Agriculture and Rural Development. Three female entrepreneurs from rural areas report on the importance of networking for the development of their respective activities: Maria Elf, who promotes local production from her region in Sweden, Lidia Moroń-Morawaska, a beekeeper in Poland, and Helena Golden, a basket maker in Ireland.

    Über Networking in der Landwirtschaft, und allgemein im ländlichen Raum, wird kaumgesprochen, und die Ergebnisse sind nur schwer zu messen. Und doch: in Europas ländlichen Regionen trifft man immer wieder Landwirtinnen und Landwirte, Unternehmer und Unternehmerinnen, die sagen: "Ohne Networking wäre ich nicht da wo ich heute bin". Die Generaldirektion Landwirtschaft und Ländlicher Raum (GD AGRI)hat darum in 2022 das Europäische GAP-Netzwerk ins Leben gerufen, als Forum für den Wissens- und Informationsaustausch zwischen nationalen GAP-Netzwerken, Organisationen, Verwaltungen, Forschern, Unternehmern und Anwendern in den Bereichen Landwirtschaft und Politik für den ländlichen Raum. Diese 47. Folge von 'Nahrung für Europa' beginnt mit einem Interview mit Antonia Gamez Moreno, die bei der Generaldirektion Landwirtschaft und ländlicher Raum (GD AGRI) der Europäischen Kommission das Referat 'Ländliche Gebiete und Netze' and Rural Development leitet.
