Finding Your Casual Magic

Casual magic is about how we find beauty in the mundane everyday. It's learning not to wait for joy at the end of our achievements, but to find contentment NOW in every single day of our lives. It’s that first sip of herbal tea in the morning, a smile from a stranger, or the way the light comes into your bedroom. Noticing trains your brain to redefine joy. Stay tuned for alternating episodes — one solo, and then a tandem ep where I bring on a guest to expand from a new angle. I want to serve up my vulnerability to softly encourage you to do the same. Welcome to this cosy corner! Jade x

When Seeking Validation Needs to Stop: Can Insecurity Evolve into Confidence?

Why hello my friends, welcome back to the seventh episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ DISCLAIMER: This episode discusses body insecurities and unhealthy relationships, listener discretion is advised. In this episode we’re talking about the magic that is self confidence!! At the time of recording I have never felt more confident in who I am. I wear what I want to wear and show up in the world in ways that feel extremely authentic. I feel like I have undergone so many challenges and looked at so many of my insecurities or things that I felt shame about and I just feel like the way that I now exist is authentically me and it feels so good. Of course, I still wake up often feeling insecure and of course I still have days where I enter old patterns of thinking but in general, if I zoom out and take a step back, I do feel, dare I say it, confident. To start the episode I invite you to do a short guided meditation to really enter this space with me and let whatever's happened in your day settle. I then share some facts on the topic of self confidence, sense of self & self esteem, looking at a few different definitions and some research about confidence in the field of cognitive psychology. I then launch into the episode focusing on how to walk through the world with confidence answering the questions: how do we build trust within ourselves to navigate challenge? How do we build a trust that we can show up authentically in spaces where maybe that feels scary to do so and to trust that everything will be okay to have this intrinsic safety within ourselves, even when the external world presents challenges to that? I close the episode with my ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ and then we hear from Aparajita who shares their Casual Magic followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves… What went well this week? What am I proud of? What is something that challenged me this week? Based on these reflections, choose a one word intention for your coming week. I just want to send you this reminder that no matter where you are in your self confidence journey, no matter how you might feel today, you are always enough. 💛 Links to research mentioned: What Self-Esteem Is and Is Not - Nathaniel Branden What Is Self-Confidence? Why Eve Cornwell Left Law: daring to disappoint the world for your own happiness

Hiiiiii friends, welcome back to the sixth episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (another wonderful guest episode!!!) This is the tandem episode to last week's which was all about finding your purpose. How do we know what to pursue in our lives? How do we know if something is the right path for us? And what do we do if later down the line, the path that we thought was what we wanted maybe doesn't serve us anymore? Today I am SO excited to be interviewing my dear friend Eve Cornwell, who has a lot of answers to these questions. Eve became known for wanting to become a lawyer. She started vlogging at university while studying law and amassed a huge audience with her unique editing style and original storytelling abilities, I can always remember being so immensely inspired by how creative and high effort her videos were. But whilst the world knew her as this ambitious trainee lawyer, I was lucky enough to know her as Eve, one of my funniest, bravest, impact driven friends. She has also been a huge role model for me in learning to embrace my sexuality and queerness. In this episode, I open with a short guided meditation before we talk all about Eve’s journey. From quitting law, going offline, coming back online, owning her queerness, her YouTube journey and getting married we cover it all. I close the episode with my ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ and then we hear from one of you guys followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves… What went well this week? What is a little joy that you can celebrate? What is something that challenged me this week? Stop searching for your purpose: create it!

Hi friendsss, welcome back to the fifth episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (five episodes already ahhh) Today in this solo episode we’re talking about purpose dun dun dun!!! I feel like purpose is the source of so much existentialism, so much fear, scariness but we're going to try and make it a little less scary. Why do we feel motivated to get out of bed every morning? Why is it we might feel compelled to change jobs? Why is it we feel we need to make changes to our life? Or why do we feel content living the way that we are? One could argue that all of these things come down to a sense of purpose, guiding all of our decisions is that North Star of our purpose in the world but the sad thing is, it can sometimes feel quite elusive. Many of us don't know what our purpose is and some of us would rather not think about that because it can be a dramatic and scary topic. But the thing is, all of our decisions, day to day, big and small, are driven by our sense of purpose. So what if, rather than waiting to discover our purpose, we could create it? Before we get into today's topic about finding and creating our purpose I start the episode with a guided meditation where we really just take a moment to be, to ground ourselves, to come back to our breath. I then look at three main routes that one can use to find their purpose in this world. I'll be looking at how culture can affect our sense of purpose, how our society and the people around us affect our purpose. I'm also going to share some of my own personal journeys with discovering what my purpose is in this world. Sources for this ep! Everything you wish you were taught about adulting in your 20s: investing, finding love and creating new homes (with Maddie Borge)

Hi friends, welcome back to the fourth episode of ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (another guest episode yayyy) This is the tandem episode to last week's which was all about the pressure to do and be everything in your twenties. This podcast works in an alternating fashion where I first explore a topic alone and then I bring in a guest who is an expert on this theme just to kind of dig into it a bit further. Today I’m joined by someone who absolutely embodies seizing this chapter of life… Maddie Borge is a Norwegian creator, now based in London for the last few years since university, who has been creating content online for almost 10 years. In the last few years she's seen huge success creating relatable lifestyle content as she navigates everything from studying for university exams, to flat hunting, to taking herself on inspiring solo adventures. Maddie is such an empowering force for young women wishing to take control of their finances, daring to take that solo trip and reminding us to not only dream big, but actually make it happen with practical tools. In this episode, I open with a short guided meditation before digging into everything from the pressure we face to do and be everything in our twenties, how we can better prioritise our time and energy around our goals, Maddie’s best financial advice that she wishes everyone in their twenties knew and what brings her authentic daily joy from cultivating a sense of home to maintaining her sense of independence in romantic relationships. I close the episode with my ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ and then we hear from one of you guys followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves… What went well this week? What am I proud of this week? What is a little win that I can celebrate? What is Happening to Us in Our 20s!? How to navigate the pressure of your twenties for joy and success (with research)

Hiiiii friends, welcome back to this lil corner of the internet!!! The third episode of ✨Finding your Casual Magic✨  (it still doesn’t feel real ahhh). Thank you so much for all the love on my first two episodes, the launch of episode 1 was incredible and I had the most amazing time chatting with Ruby in episode 2. It means the world to feel so supported, so grateful for you all    But in TODAYS episode I am back with another solo episode and this time we are tackling our 20s!! The grand topic that is the stress and pressure of being in your twenties and the pressure to be and do everything all the time, all at once. No matter who you are, where you're from, what your cultural background is, I think your twenties universally feel like a very stressful time.   As always, I open with a short guided meditation which allows you to settle in and feel grounded in the otherwise hectic, whirlwind of our lives. I start the episode with some facts, studies show that young people now have the poorest mental health of any age group, which is actually a reversal from two decades ago when they had the lowest incidence of common mental disorders. That’s wild!!! I also talk all about post-graduation life, dealing with burnout, the impact of social media, cultural and societal pressures and how to live more intentionally in your twenties.   I close the episode with my ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ and a Casual Magic from one of you guys followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves…   What is something I’m proud of this week? What went well this week? What is a little win that I can celebrate? Why Redefining Productivity Works: Find Authentic Joy (with Ruby Granger)

Hi friends, welcome back to ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (ahhhh I still can’t believe I’m saying that) and welcome to the first ever guest episode!! The way this podcast works is I am going to find a guest who pairs really well to the theme of my previous solo episode and in episode one I introduced Casual Magic, looking into what it means to find beauty in the mundane moments of every day. When I was brainstorming who represents this idea best I couldn’t think of anyone better than my dear friend Ruby Granger.   Ruby has one of the most incredibly inspiring journeys, she started off as a studytuber similar to myself, inspiring people to love learning, to feel less stressed about exams and to kind of find this intrinsic joy within studying. Not only is Ruby this powerhouse YouTuber with almost a million subscribers who she inspires in such a multitude of ways but she is also so much more than that, the way that she carries herself as a person and on the Internet radiates kindness.   After gracefully receiving a rejection from Oxford, Ruby went on to study English literature at Exeter University and recently just did a masters at Oxford so she is such a testament to not letting rejection define you and to continue striving for your goals as you enter different seasons of life.   In every episode I begin with a short guided meditation which allows you to settle in and feel grounded in the otherwise hectic, whirlwind of our lives before myself and Ruby dig into everything from her successes to her failures, her incredibly inspiring mindset on the world and also how she finds joy independent of her achievements.   The episode closes with ‘Casual Magic of the Week’ followed by intention setting for the week ahead. Grab a journal or open your notes app and join me as we ask ourselves…   What went well this week? What are you proud of this week? What is something that challenged me this week? Hi friends, welcome to this brand new cosy lil corner of the internet!!! The first EVER episode of  ✨ Finding your Casual Magic ✨ (ngl I’m a lil scared hehe). Casual magic is about how we find beauty in the mundane everyday. We tend to look forward to the 1% of days in our lives to find joy, like the birthday, the wedding, the job promotion. But honestly, 99% of our lives are just the same routines — and how sad would it be if we only chose to experience joy 1% of the time? Casual magic is about looking for these tiny moments in every day that are casually magic. In my first episode I open with a short guided meditation which allows you to settle in and feel grounded in the otherwise hectic, whirlwind of our lives. I then share with you my journey on how I became a studytuber, the inspiration behind my channel name and how I discovered Casual Magic. I share examples of when Casual Magic has played an important part in my life, including how I managed to balance my increasing workload and university life whilst navigating mental health challenges within my family.
