    Selling your Stuff and the Wicked Capital Gains Tax. Remember when George Carlin did a skit on STUFF? His one line about how we all have houses for our STUFF. Then… we need to buy a bigger house to move all our stuff to because we out grew the first house.. That transaction of selling the first house will trigger a capital gain tax.  And it can be wicked. At Our Age… we are downsizing and selling our stuff: Our primary residence, vacation rentals, rental properties.  Possibly renting now or moving into a condo with no maintenance. I am experiencing the shock, actually, of realizing a huge Capital Gain Tax from owning rental properties and an inn for twenty two years in new York.  I am sharing the journey with folks as I believe a lot of folks do not prepare for this large taxable event. My personal advice is to know this :  you can only deduct the last three years of improvements before the sale.  Therefore keep really good records of any improvements and other deductions that will lessen the Capital Gains Tax.  I am now working with a TAX EXPERT ( Sheree White) because the accountants did not know how to work with Capital Gains Tax. She is also an IRS enrolled agent which makes her qualified to manage the issues.  Moreover.. SHE TALKS TO THE IRS so you don’t have to be on the phone with them for hours.     Digital Nomads: It Takes PLANNING

    While this lifestyle can be exciting and rewarding, it also comes with its challenges. Digital nomads have to deal with issues such as finding reliable internet connections, managing their finances and taxes across multiple countries, and dealing with the loneliness that can come with being away from home and friends for long periods of time. Nonetheless, this trend is rapidly growing and many people are choosing to pursue this lifestyle.   Here are my criteria for the DIGITAL NOMAD LIFESTYLE: MONEY/ Income Biking everywhere  No car necessary Fresh market within biking Water views  Pool Internet Immersion in Culture  Language is accessible, somewhat easy to use!!! European Portuguese is tricky.. Digital nomads are often attracted to this lifestyle because it allows them to experience new cultures and lifestyles, meet new people and gain new perspectives while still maintaining their professional lives. They are able to work from anywhere in the world as long as they have an internet connection and a laptop. Learn the culture. Portuguese are VERY POLITE Bureaucracy:  very slow as to processing anything!     Digital Nomads: A New Frontier for Entrepreneurs

    Digital Nomads stats 16.9 million (USA) have “ditched the office” for this new adventurous work and lifestyle.  Double that world wide for this trend.     AT OUR AGE: UNSUNG HEROINES Not all super heroes wear capes.  This is a story about a professional woman of a certain age still saving people from the clutches of the Internal Revenue Service  (IRS).Sheree White began her career in bookkeeping at sixteen and realized that she loved that and working in the tax industry.  She explained to me that there is big difference between a tax expert and your CPA, (Certified Public Accountant). Her claim to fame is working with the IRS and knowing the important information in dealing with the IRS.
