Episode Seven: Yayoi Kusama, Why Does Satan Look Like That?, and The Cheech Center

Paint on Canvas on Tape

Thanks for listening! This week Sinclaire brings us the incredible and fascinating Yayoi Kusama, famous for her Infinity Rooms featured in The Broad in Los Angeles and her AP Art History Work, The Narcissus Garden. Yayoi also hallucinates dots which are featured in her iconic yellow pumpkins and several other works. Kendal switches gears completely to ponder the question, "Why does Satan look the way he does?" She shows us the Smithfield Decretals which is a collection of illuminated Papal decrees to explore this question, along with several other works. Max also tells us about the brand new, opening soon, Cheech Center in Riverside, CA, a Chicano art collection owned by Cheech Marin, of Cheech and Chong fame, opening in a renovated library. Enjoy!
