#30: Everything Popular is Wrong | The 4 Hour Work Week

“By using money as the scapegoat and work as our all-consuming routine, we are able to conveniently disallow ourselves the time to do otherwise.”  - Tim Ferris
In this episode we continue to deep dive Step 1 of The 4-Hour Workweek by Tim Ferris and discuss what the New Rich already know - that everything popular is wrong. The truth is….
Interest and Energy are cyclical. By working only when you are most effective, life is both more productive and more enjoyable.
Less Is Not Laziness. Do less meaningless work, so that you can focus on things of greater personal importance.
The Timing Is Never Right. If it is important to you, do it now and course correct along the way.
Things in Excess Become Their Opposite. Too much, too many, and too often of what you want becomes what you don’t want.
Money alone is not the solution. Busy yourself with the routine of the money wheel, pretend it’s the fix-all, and you will create a constant distraction that prevents you from seeing just how pointless it is.
Emphasize Strengths, Don’t Fix Weaknesses. It is far more lucrative and fun to leverage your strengths instead of attempting to fix all the chinks in your armor.

#29: The New Rich | The 4 Hour Work Week

#29: The New Rich | The 4 Hour Work Week

“‘Someday’ is a disease that will take your dreams to the grave with you.”  - Tim Ferris
In this episode we begin exploring The 4-Hour Workweek by Time Ferris.

    New Rich Lifestyle Philosophy:
The New Rich are individuals prioritizing time and mobility over traditional wealth; they seek a lifestyle by design.
To have a lifestyle by design, we must define the life we want, eliminate tasks that do not contribute to core goals, automate as much as possible, and liberate ourselves from the 9-5 work routine.
Key Principles of the New Rich:
Distinguishing principles: Work for yourself, work when you want to, retire early.
Ownership over employment: Be the owner, not the boss or the employee.
Quality over quantity: Have more quality and less clutter.
Use the Freedom Multiplier: Money's practical value is multiplied based on control over what, when, where, and with whom you work and live.

#28: Synergize & Sharpening the Saw | The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

“We must never become too busy sawing to take time to sharpen the saw.” - Stephen Covey
In this episode we finish The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
    HABIT 6: Synergize
Harness the power of collaboration to achieve results that are greater than what individuals can accomplish alone.
Value and leverage differences to generate innovative solutions.
Be open-minded, an active listener & willing to explore various ideas and perspectives.
    HABIT 7: Sharpen the Saw
We must take time to recharge in order to gain perspective and maintain balance in our lives.
By attending to our own well-being, we are better equipped to serve and contribute to others.
Focus on personal development by setting goals, seeking feedback, learning from experiences, and actively engaging in activities that promote growth and improvement.

    #27: Seeking a Win/Win + Understanding | The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

    #27: Seeking a Win/Win + Understanding | The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

Instead of putting others in their place, put yourself in their place. - Stephen Covey
In this episode we deep dive Habits 4 & 5 of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
    HABIT 4: Think Win/Win
Seek mutually beneficial outcomes in all interactions.
If a mutually beneficial solution cannot be reached, it is better to agree on "No Deal" rather than resorting to a win-lose scenario.
Language plays an important role; use inclusive and collaborative language that emphasizes cooperation, understanding, and mutually beneficial solutions.

HABIT 5: Seek First to Understand, Then Be Understood
Effective communication and empathetic listening is important to build strong relationships and resolve conflicts.
Minimize autobiographical responses and instead focus on empathetic responses to understand a person's unique perspective.
Listen with intent to understand, suspend judgment, reflect back and validate and express your own perspective.

#26: First Things First | The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

#26: First Things First | The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

If the ladder is not leaning against the right wall, every step we take just gets us to the wrong place faster. - Stephen Covey
In this episode we deep dive Habits 2 & 3 of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
HABIT 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Have a clear understanding of your destination so you can begin to take steps in the right direction.
Understand that all things are created twice; first the blueprint and then the product.
Lacking self awareness empowers others & life circumstances outside our Circle of Influence to shape our lives by default.
Become a principle-centered person; principles don’t react to anything or depend on the behaviors of others.

HABIT 3: Put First Things First
Focus on activities that align with our values and goals, rather than getting caught up in the busyness of daily life.
Utilize the "Time Management Matrix” to effectively put first things first.
To be a highly effective individual, spend most of your time in Quadrant II.
An effective Quadrant II Self Manager does so by identifying key roles, setting goals and scheduling.

#25: Being Proactive| The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

#25: Being Proactive| The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People

“Until a person can say deeply and honestly, "I am what I am today because of the choices I made yesterday," that person cannot say, "I choose otherwise.” - Stephen R. Covey
In this episode we deep dive the beginning of The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Stephen R. Covey
    LESSON 1: Paradigms & Principles
What we are communicates far more eloquently than anything we say or do.
The more aware we are of our paradigms and their influence, the more we can take responsibility for them.
The Way we see the Problem, is the Problem.

    LESSON 2: 7 Habits Overview
The 7 Habits are a principle-centered, character-based, “inside-out” approach to personal and interpersonal effectiveness.
Habits are the intersection of knowledge, skill & desire.
The 3 assets in our life, Physical, Financial & Human, must be in balance by ensuring our production and production capacity are maintained.

    LESSON 3: Habit #1 - Be Proactive
The behavior of Proactive people is a product of their own conscious choice, based on values, rather than a product of their conditions, based on feeling.
Do not wait for something to happen or someone to take care of you. Find solutions to your problems instead of being the problem.
Focus on your Circle of Influence rather than your Circle of Concern.
