"We have a very real opportunity to bring this conflict to an end" was the assessment of US envoy Amos Hochstein, who is bringing a ceasefire proposal to Lebanon and Israel. Both the Lebanese government and Hezbollah are said to have responded positively. In the meantime, Israel has been intensifying its air strikes, even inside Beirut.
