We have been funding bright ideas, big and small, since 2004. We award around £400 million to £600 million of National Lottery money every year to charities, social enterprises and community projects; supporting good causes across health, education, environment and charitable purposes.

International Women's Day
Stonedale Women’s Project was started by three inspirational women in Croxeth, Liverpool just over three years ago.
It’s an area where there are little or no facilities for recreation for young and older people. Friends Bernie Russell, Michelle Foran and Kellie Quine decided to take matters into their own hands and help their community by doing something different and brilliant – which brought about the birth of ‘Billy Fun Bus’.
Two double-decker buses now sit in the heart of their community and provide a safe place for young and older peoples to socialise, play and befriend others in their community. The project has inspired the community and brought them together, it has even led one young man on a new journey in life.
We hear from Bernie Russell, project lead on how it all got started and volunteer, Elliott on how inspired he has been by these women who took the lead in their community. -
Volunteering at Wyre Forest Nightstop and Mediation Service
Wyre Forest Nightstop and Mediation Scheme is a charitable organisation that provides safe, emergency temporary accommodation for homeless young people between the ages of 16 and 25 in the homes of trained volunteer hosts. They are looking for more #BigVolunteer s. Alison Burton talks to us about her experience as a volunteer host.

North West Blood Bikes Lancashire and Lakes
North West Blood Bikes Lancashire and Lakes is a registered charity who offer an out of hours and free of charge urgent medical courier service to the NHS. The service is run entirely by volunteers who play a part in saving people’s lives and save the NHS money that would otherwise be used on taxis or expensive couriers.
North West Blood Bikes Lancashire and Lakes are looking for more #BigVolunteers.
