On episode 9 of Here I interviewed William Hatungimana, one of my students at Luther College. I am ending my fourth year at Luther, and William was one of the students that I met that first year. He took my Global Politics class, where, after watching the documentary "Ghost of Rwanda" he very nonchalantly told me: "You know, I was there."

William is graduating in May and starting his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk) in August. We worked together on a few projects, including a paper he wrote on mining and development in Sub-Saharan Africa. In our 90 minutes conversation we talked about his (literal) trek from Rwanda to Swaziland, life in a refugee camp, his education there and here at Luther, and a lot of philosophizing about all kinds of stuff. I hope you all enjoy listening this as much as I enjoyed talking to William about his life.

On episode 8 of Here I interviewed Emily Sena, one of my former students here at Luther, who graduated last year. Emily was my first student assistant, she helped me write a paper for a conference, presented the paper with me in Chicago, and is an all around fun person to be around.

In the podcast we talked about her life growing up and her time at Luther. We spent a lot of time talking about the decisions we make in college and where they take us.

Today, April 11, the day I am releasing this episode is also the day Emily is moving to Amman, Jordan to take a job at a development agency. This is a pretty exciting step for Emily, and a major change of scenery (from Decorah to D.C., now to Jordan). I am excited for Emily's new professional adventure, and I hope you all enjoy Emily's story from Here to Jordan and beyond.
