SCRIPTURE TEXT: Psalm 40:1-17 Psalm 40, yet another Psalm of David in our “PSALMS OF PERSEVERANCE” sermon series, affirms the Father’s faithfulness to His people to see them through times of trouble & trial. Here the psalmist affirms, “I waited patiently for the LORD &... He heard my cry” (v1). The psalmist notably describes real praise for their delivering God as including effusive worship, effective witness, and earnest walking in obedience to God’s ways. In times in which we may feel “mired in the mud” (v2), an effective response is to praise the Lord who always hears our cry & will answer our need in His righteousness.
