  1. Teenage Dating

    10 SEPT

    Teenage Dating

On this episode we talk about teenage dating, should we let our kids, should we say no, and what are some rules around it. We need your help As you know, we love bringing you every episode of the Dudes and Dads Podcast, and we’re committed to making it the best experience possible for you. Right now, we rely on a laptop provided by an employer to edit our episodes and stream our live shows. While we’re incredibly thankful for their support, this laptop will soon not be available to us due to some policy changes on their end. That’s why we’re raising funds to buy a new MacBook Pro for the Dudes and Dads Podcast. This new MacBook Pro is a top-of-the-line model that will cost around $4,700, but it’s an investment that will last us a long time and significantly enhance our production quality and reliability. If you’ve enjoyed our content, learned something valuable, or simply had a good laugh, we’d really appreciate your support in helping us get this new equipment. Every little bit helps, whether it’s a few dollars or a larger contribution. Together, we can keep the Dudes and Dads Podcast running smoothly and sounding better than ever! 2. The Need for Adventure and Wonder

    2 JUL

The Need for Adventure and Wonder

On this episode we talk with Greg Neumayer about the need for adventureand wonder. Greg leads groups of men on trips to the Tetons and talksabout why adventure and wonder is a necessity for humans. Adventure -The big question: do I have what it takes?-Adventure begins when we ask questions like, “has anyone ever?” or “what if?” or “could I maybe?”-Not all about adrenaline- it’s about existential satisfaction, personally connecting with something outside of ourselves and advancing a story-Mechanics/physics/engineering/processing or transmitting information of a personal value, Volunteering or Philanthropy about beautifying the world: both are different sides of the adventure coin-Moving from point a to point b via effort and will, solving the problem and restoring wholeness to the system maybe only we see is others’ adventure-Taming something wild (computer code, garden, art, music, writing, etc.) is another kind of adventure Wonder -Wonder taps into our curiosity when we ask questions like “What was it like before? How tall is that tree? What does that bird eat? Where do squirrels live? How far away is that one tree way out there? How many rain drops does it take before you have a cloud? What was that person’s childhood in the 50s like? What does that tattoo represent?”-Wonder should leave us feeling small-Wonder should bring us to a place of awe-Wonder encourages us to witness incomprehensible things rather than keep explaining it all away and looking for boxes to contain the world-Wonder happens when we begin realizing the world moves and works without our input Wilderness Spaces Merge Adventure and Wonder Together! -Biblical Theme (Abraham, Moses, Joshua, David, Elijah, Elisha, Jesus, Peter, Paul, etc.)-The chaos ratio- if there is more chaos out there than in myself, I can bring what feels out of stability within myself into view more readily.-I’ve observed of myself and others- the more control I’m used to the less comfortable I am in the wilderness and the harder it is for me to access Wonder.-I’ve learned how important it is to grasp your accounting for resources and learn the stability of “enough” when intentionally entering the Wilderness. “Don’t let your spirit die before your body does” from Jon Foreman Song- Terminal: https://youtu.be/wYBvmatxKL0?feature=shared Support the podcast If you received any value from this podcast please consider giving back your time, talent, or treasure to help grow this podcast.
