Barry Aycock started a cotton scouting business at age 18, walking fields for farmers to make recommendations on crop treatment. In 1999, Barry started AgXplore, a crop inputs business, now doing $50 million in sales. Barry stepped away from day to day operations of that business this year to free up time for his other entrepreneurial ventures. They include: two nursing homes, two restaurants, two cotton gins, two meat shops, 15,000 acres of farmland, and a partial interest in the “G” League team affiliated with the NBA’s Dallas Mavericks. Mr. Aycock…. technically, Dr. Aycock, because he has a PhD, (although he claims brains aren’t the most important element to business success) provides his insight on what it takes to achieve success and longevity. He’s never had a business plan and he doesn’t wake up early but he embraces risk and relies on perseverance.
