“No man ever steps in the same river twice—for it’s not the same river and he’s not the same man.” – Heraclitus.
After spending a two-year hiatus flying under the radar, I’m back. And yes, for those who were wondering, I am alive. During this season, I’ve gotten uncomfortable and experienced more growth than I ever thought was possible.
For past listeners of my previous podcast, The Elite Advisor Blueprint®, thank you for giving me the platform to facilitate some of the most important conversations of my lifetime and the confidence to sacrifice everything in pursuit of something more.
For those unfamiliar with my past show or personal journey in finance, this small-town Kansas farm kid has always been grateful for the opportunity I had to learn and work alongside some of the most successful advisors in the country over the past decade and a half. As Jim Rohn states, “You’re the average of the five people you surround yourself with”—and I’ve been fortunate to have been surrounded by the very best. Many of the principles I share have been shaped by these very advisors.
As I reflect on my learnings to this point, one specifically stands out. The industry’s definition of “success” for financial advisors is completely broken — and it needs to evolve. Too often I've seen advisors sacrifice their marriages, health, relationships, and everything else that matters to walk across an industry stage recognizing their "success".
This show is my attempt to help financial advisors create unlimited growth and freedom in their LIFE and their BUSINESS and do it faster than they ever thought possible. We call this #DBDL or "Doing Business. Doing Life." at Triad Partners.

013: Using the Enneagram to Lead with Compassion, Strengthen Your Team, & Scale Your Business with Ian Cron

One of the biggest hurdles for financial advisors who want to build a thriving business, is the transition from a one-person operation to leading like a CEO. Up until that point, most advisors only have to worry about themselves.

But scaling a high performing team requires a completely different level of leadership and self-awareness.

And to better understand how to get to that level, Brad’s talking with Ian Cron, all about the Enneagram—a personality assessment tool that can help you understand how you and your team are uniquely wired.

Ian is a psychotherapist, Enneagram teacher and best-selling author whose book “The Road Back to You: An Enneagram Journey to Self-Discovery” has sold more than 1M copies.

If you want to grow your business, you can’t do it alone. You need people. And if you don’t understand how people think or their motivations for how they act, it will be a constant battle trying to scale.

Ian’s going to show you how to leverage the Enneagram to discover areas for growth, identify your blind spots, foster deeper relationships, and communicate more effectively, so you and your team can grow together.

3 of the biggest insights from Ian Cron …

How to use the Enneagram to build self-awareness, see the world through your team’s eyes, and lead with compassion and clarity. How to strengthen relationships, navigate tough conversations, reduce friction, and empower your team, by understanding the 9 Enneagram personality types.  Breaking down the 9 Enneagrams types and high-level ways to manage and motivate each group.

012: Triad Member: Tom Jacobs —Doubling Business by Letting Go, Empowering Your Team, and MASTERING Seminars

For many advisors, the idea of running a seminar conjures up images of wasted time, low ROI and an audience just there for a free dinner.

But for Triad member Tom Jacobs, seminars have been the key to growing by more than 11x in just six years.

In today’s episode, I talk with Tom about how he’s embraced seminars to create a wave of momentum for his practice. In addition to tips about how you can do the same, you’ll hear Tom discuss his mindset for giving presentations, how he leans on his team for the seminar follow-up process, and his strategies for continuing to improve his seminars.

You’ll also hear about the benefits that come from investing financially in your team, how advisors can grow their practices by running fewer meetings, and how Tom bounced back from a $4M bankruptcy during The Great Recession—and his tips for moving forward from low points.

3 of the biggest insights from Tom Jacobs …

How Tom’s philosophy of “If you love seminars, they'll love you back” has helped him grow total assets from $7.7M in 2016 to more than $91M through 2022, along with tips for effectively running your own seminars.
The idea of “who, not how” and how advisors can use it to build out new revenue-generating branches of their businesses without adding significantly more work to their own plates.

You need a CRM, a portfolio management system, a custodian, planning software, and a host of other tools to effectively manage client portfolios and deliver financial advice.

010: Elevate Your Team, Avoid Burnout, and Drive Sustainable Growth with Robert Glazer

010: Elevate Your Team, Avoid Burnout, and Drive Sustainable Growth with Robert Glazer

“We're ending the steroid phase of high-growth organizations that just kind of grew by breaking people and burning through them.” – Robert Glazer

Gone are the days of pushing people to unreasonable limits in order to hit “company goals.” People need boundaries. They need time away from work, so that when they are working, they’re focused, energized, and engaged.

Organizations can either provide the space to do that OR they can resist, burn out their team, and lose valuable players to a competing company that’s embracing the evolution of how people want to work.

This is what today’s conversation with Robert Glazer is all about.

Robert is an entrepreneur, author, and the founder of Acceleration Partners, a global partner marketing agency that has won more than 30 awards for company culture—despite the fact that their 270-person team is fully remote!

In this episode, we’re diving into Robert’s newest book, “Elevate Your Team,” to discuss his tips and tricks for helping your business thrive while improving your team’s personal and professional lives.

3 of the biggest insights from Robert Glazer …The four elements of capacity building—spiritual, intellectual, physical and emotional—and how leaders can use them to create a more open, motivated and connected company culture.
Tips for avoiding burnout for yourself and your team members while maintaining stable business growth.
Why using a 90-day transition plan to help struggling employees find a new role within your firm (or land a new job elsewhere) can increase success for your firm.

008: Triad Member: Dan DeVerna —Referral Strategy, Lead Generation, Writing Books, & Systematizing Your Business

In a saturated industry, relying on the same old lead generation tactics can make it difficult to stand out.

But when earning referrals and bringing in new assets are your lifeblood, blending in isn’t an option. So how can you set yourself apart?

Today, I’m talking with Triad member Dan DeVerna, the founder of DeVerna & Co Financial, to talk about the referral and new business success he’s found through a unique approach — writing books.

Today, you’ll hear exactly how Dan does it—and why you don’t actually need to be a writer to author a book!

You’ll also gain insights into using checklists to scale your practice, how to personalize your follow-up process to close new clients, and how meditation can lead to more engaging client interactions.

3 of the biggest insights from Dan DeVerna …

Brad Is BACK Baby!

Love that Brad is back on the mic and building something incredible with his recent return to podcasting. IMO, he is one of the best interviewers on the internet. Here's his magic formula... A thirst for knowledge, plus insatiable curiosity, plus ALWAYS in service to his audience = incredible content that delivers every time. He brings on an eclectic mix of interesting guests, many who fall outside of the financial services industry with a different vantage point to learn from. Brad also has a knack for simplifying complex subject matter and distilling it down into actionable takeaways for listeners. Probably has something to do with the thousands of advisors that he’s coached ;) If you are a financial advisor - or any entrepreneur for that matter - who is trying to build a scalable business that grows AND that buys your time back, go give this pod a listen, I promise you will not be disappointed!

Welcome back!

Super happy to have Brad Johnsons podcasts back in my life. Every episode always provides a new wisdom and insight that has allowed me to do positive things in my business.

As a Canadian advisor, I was worried the content may not be as relevant but that is not the case at all. This is an amazing podcast for any and all Financial Advisors looking to do right by their clients and grow their business while doing so.
