    Joel Clement Bio:

    Joel Clement joined The Lemelson Foundation in 2023 as a Senior Program Officer. As an award-winning policy expert, scientist, and former federal executive, he brings to the Foundation more than 20 years of experience in the climate arena, including climate and energy policy, resilience and climate adaptation, and climate philanthropy.

    Clement has led international climate initiatives, provided advice and analysis for White House leadership and two Interior Secretaries, developed and contributed to research and conservation science programs in temperate and tropical ecosystems worldwide, and established a leading conservation science program for a philanthropic foundation. As a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs, he led international efforts to address climate disruption in the rapidly warming Arctic.

    A native of Maine, Clement has received multiple awards for championing climate action and promoting the role of science in public policy. He has been featured and interviewed on CNN, MSNBC, PBS, ABC, NBC, CBS, and Democracy Now and published by the Washington Post, The Hill, Denver Post, The Guardian, NBCThink, and the Georgetown Journal of International Affairs. In addition to his full-time role at The Lemelson Foundation, Clement remains a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Belfer Center and is an Associate at the Stockholm Environment Institute.

    Jim Enote is a Zuni tribal member and CEO of the Colorado Plateau Foundation, which invests in Native-led organizations on the Colorado Plateau. As a counselor to the philanthropic community, he connects, engages, and leverages funding to support regional issues. Enote's service over the past 45 years includes natural resources, cultural resources, philanthropic, and art assignments for many domestic and international organizations. He serves on the Trust for Mutual Understanding Board, is the Chair of the Board at the Grand Canyon Trust and is on the Governing Council of the Wilderness Society. He is a Carnegie Foundation Senior Fellow and National Geographic Society Explorer. He lives in his work-in-progress home at Zuni, New Mexico, where he is also a lifelong traditional farmer.

Margaret ran sustainable and equitable water investing and grantmaking programs at Spring Point Partners, advanced water supply solutions in the Colorado River Basin at the Walton Family Foundation, and supported policy-relevant scientific research at the Pew Charitable Trusts. She has also advocated for river restoration at American Rivers and supported environmental law drafting in Central Europe at the Environmental Law Institute. Margaret serves on the board of the Rural Community Assistance Partnership, and on the Advisory Committee of the Conservation Finance Network. She is a graduate of Wesleyan University and Harvard Law School.
