Cateratcliffe ,

Honestly? Great concept, execution could be improved

The idea behind this podcast is fantastic. As someone who loves hearing stories of the paranormal, it’s great to have another podcast on board with that. And, better yet, they tell a lot of lesser-known stories (so far from Texas in particular), so it’s not the same stories and locations we’ve heard time and again. The cool part about this particular podcast is that as part of their recording they try to go to the areas themselves, and see if they have any experiences (not sure how this will pan out in the pandemic, as I’m only a few episodes in). They do their research well, and paint a good picture of the story with their words.

However, there are some quality-based issues to overcome. The sound is the biggest issue. It’s quite quiet (particularly Abby’s voice), even with my sound on at full volume. I tend to listen to podcasts while doing other things, but have found myself at times having to stop what I’m doing or pause the podcast because it’s too easy to miss things otherwise. I’m hoping that they’re able to get better mics (or boost sound in post-edits) as time goes on. They initially sounded a little scripted, but I would guess that was due to nerves, and they’ve loosened up a bit even in the few episodes I’ve listened to. And some of the site visit recordings feel unnecessarily long. Although they’re interesting, and I know they’re there for a long time, we could probably do with a bit shorter versions of those parts (unless something REALLY fascinating is happening!).

Realistically, I would give this 4 or 4.5 stars because of said issues, but because they’re newbies, I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt. I hope that my feedback is taken as the constructive criticism it’s meant to be. I’m definitely enjoying the podcast, and look forward to more episodes!
