EP 234 - Oxford School Shooting - Parents on Trial
On November 30th, 2021, just over two years ago, a 15-year-old boy entered his high school with a gun, and went on a shooting spree which killed 4 students and injured many others. He was apprehended at the scene and his trial was recently completed. He was tried as an adult and received life in prison without parole.
But this case is far from over, as his parents were also arrested and charged with 4 counts of involuntary manslaughter for each of the students killed. They went on to have separate trials and those trials have now been completed. I watched both trials which were broadcast on YouTube, and so this episode will present the details of the trials from hours and hours of courtroom footage.

Heartbreaking
This podcast about the Korean ferry that sank with the students is so heartbreaking, I’m crying while I write this. I can’t imagine what those poor parents went through losing their children. And those poor children who didn’t have a chance. I have two teenage sons right now and I really couldn’t imagine going on if I lost either of them. Such a horrific tragedy. I hope all who have passed are resting in peace now.
Misgenders people
I no longer feel comfortable supporting this podcast after the blatant misgendering of the individual being spoken about (episode 173-Cheerleader)
The individual in question stated that their gender identity is female and yet the podcast host blatantly disregarded it. Very transphobic undertones. I worry for the students she teaches.
This one is different!
There are more true crime podcasts than you can shake a stick at, but this one is the meter stick to measure them by! I thought the worst thing you could do in class was talk too much and get sent out to bang erasers.....This podcast about the things that happen in schools is like no other! Ana is fantastic. Her empathy for the victims and her well researched topics seperate this from other "niche" true crime podcasts. What a delight, and educational ;)
