In The Seats With....Phillippe Diaz and 'I Am Gitmo'

In this day and age...so many stories are just coming down to perspective...On this episode we jump into the Point of View that we don't always consider, but probably should.  It's time for 'I Am Gitmo' opening in Los Angeles today.A Muslim schoolteacher is taken to a CIA black site and then Guantanamo Bay Cuba, where he is interrogated and tortured, despite professing his innocence.A fascinating little film that flips the POV that we are used to seeing and allowing us as an audience to see the perspective of the war on terror from the other side, the people who are innocent of any wrong doing. From writer/director Phillippe Diaz, "I Am Gitmo" is an intense character piece that is hard to look away from.  We had the unique pleasure of sitting down with Phillipe to talk about the origins of the movie and so very much more.'I Am Gitmo' is playing in select theatres in the East Coast of the USA and opens in Los Angeles today.

In The Seats With...Samantha Jayne, Arturo Perez Jr and 'Mean Girls'

The "Burn Book" will never die...On this episode we are going back to school for a remix of one of the most beloved High School comedies of the modern age.  It's time for 'Mean Girls'.New student Cady Heron (Angourie Rice) is welcomed into the top of the social food chain by the elite group of popular girls called “The Plastics,” ruled by the conniving queen bee Regina George (Reneé Rapp) and her minions Gretchen (Bebe Wood) and Karen (Avantika). However, when Cady makes the major misstep of falling for Regina’s ex-boyfriend Aaron Samuels (Christopher Briney), she finds herself prey in Regina’s crosshairs. As Cady sets to take down the group’s apex predator with the help of her outcast friends Janis (Auli’i Cravalho) and Damian (Jaquel Spivey), she must learn how to stay true to herself while navigating the most cutthroat jungle of all: high school.Adapted from the stage musical, this may not be the Mean Girls that you remember, but it's so very much more as it makes its leap from the stage to the screen.  Available now On Demand and hitting retailers on DVD, Blu-Ray and 4K on April 30th, we had the pleasure of talking with directors Samantha Jayne and Arturo Perez Jr about adapting this for the screen, the power of the 'Burn Book" and so very much more....

In The Seats With....Anna Maguire, Hamza Haq and 'With Love And A Major Organ'

Love is never afraid to get a little strange....On this new episode we get dive into one of the more delightful pieces of genre fair that came across our desks in the past 12 months.  It's time to explore 'With Love and A Major Organ'.In a world where everyone's heart is an object and there's a strong societal pressure to dampen emotion, lonely Virtual Insurance broker Anabel (Anna Maguire) always follows her heart. At odds with this overly pragmatic society, and after a series of devastating emotional blows, she rips her heart from her chest and gives it to a man she's fallen for, the strangely unfeeling George (Hamza Haq). Unburdened by her unique yet cumbersome heart, Anabel finds life easier. George, on the other hand, begins to feel everything, to the shock of his overbearing mother, Mona. Anabel soon realizes she needs to get her heart back if she's going to survive. This is just one of those movies where you can feel the joy of the material coming through the screens and especially when the actors get to talk about it all.  'With Love And A Major Organ' is a smart little piece of genre cinema that just so happens to be Canadian. We had the unique pleasure of sitting down with the stars of the film; Anna Maguire and Hamza Haq to talk about the nature of the material, making it in COVID, the joy of getting to do work like this and so very much more....
