 There's so much to this episode, it is hard to capture it in a paragraph, but this is basically the aftermath of December 26th 1996, how John and Patsy, did they selves no favours, and likely added to the public's perception of them. And, while they weren't helping themselves. The Boulder PD was salivating at every misstep they took, because it was making their job even easier. We will go through, what i call the leaders of the two separate camps. Steve Thomas who was an investigator, who was asked to come over from being an undercover narcotics officer. Steve got lazered in on the ransom letter real quick, and believes, till this day that Patsy Ramsey, just newly in remission, from having Stage 4 ovarian cancer, awoke, to find 6 year old JonBenet had a bed wetting accident, causing Patsy to lose it, and take it out on the child...... even though her sheets were not soiled..... The other leader is Lou Smit, who was asked to come out of retirement to help with the case, only to resign 18 months later, and for the rest of his life, he would work towards finding the intruder, who he believed with his whole heart was responsible for this. Lou, passed away in 2010, and until the day he died, had a Christmas tree and and picture of JonBenet in his office, so that he would never allow himself to forget about this case... and even since his death, he has passed on his extremely well organized 'torch', so to speak.
