    S4 E3 Fragmentation

    S4 E3 Fragmentation

    Season 4, Episode 3: Fragmentation
Jim and Kirsty explore another key theme, established during their time-travelling expedition to the future: fragmentation.  Loooking “back” over 2021 they noticed a high level of nationalism, individualism and separatism that seemed to be affecting most countries around the world and the tone of social media.

There is obvious worry about the world breaking apart, especially when it is a global effort that is needed to tackle climate change, wealth disparity and social issues (inclusion, prejudice and disease.)  But in true Kirsty and Jim style, the duo turn the arguments on their heads and ask where fragmentation might be a useful first step in leading to cohesion and greater collectivism.

In a parallel exploration, they address fragmentation in IT, Psychology and medicine.  These insights add to an overall story about why humans feel the need to break things down and what good might come out of it.

Poems and reflections shared in this podcast are that of (the iconic) Emily Dickinson and the (provocative) Doug Barr.

Jim and Kirsty are leadership consultants running their own consultancies and partnering in the podcast and other ventures.

Jim McNeish and Kirsty Mac continue with season 4 of their podcast Leaders, What Now? Started during the pandemic of 2020 the conversations have been about what is required of leaders and all humans as we navigate through the  complexities of working from home (if this privilege exists to you),  leading teams remotely, dealing with emotion and the conversations we need to have now, and in the future.  Jim and Kirsty, both hailing from Scotland have a relaxed style and a Scottish humour and  share their views, thoughts and feelings through their chats by the virtual fire with their mugs of tea and coffee.

This season starts a little differently with a spot of time travel.
Jim and Kirsty went into one of those thin spaces, The Port of Menteith, and received an email from their future selves from Burns night 2022 (It’s a Tuesday).  In the podcast, they reflect on the year’s events and the major trends over the course of 2021.  It’s a glimpse of the future.

Poems and reflections shared in this podcast are that of Arundhati Roy and John O’Donohue
