The Missing Middle with Mike Moffatt and Sabrina Maddeaux

Missing Middle is a great Podcast, providing insight into today’s Canadian Housing Market from the Missing Middle point of view. However, the most recent Podcast inaccurately described the downpayment for home under 1M as 50,000 (5%), it is in actuality 5% on the first 500,000$ then 10% on the next 499,999$ which would be 75,000$ minimum downpayment. Also, when comparing monthly mortgage fees of today to that of the past (70s-90s) it would be best to account for inflation (you can simply use the Canadian Inflation Calculator) to have more accurate values. Neither of these however take away from the general argument that housing is much less affordable today than it was in the past, which is well argued. Keep the podcasts coming!

100/100 pod - I love it so much. He and Cara have an excellent dynamic. While both are great storytellers (possibly thanks to their producer Meredith), they do so in their own relatable ways and it tracks. It’s refreshing to hear Cara and Mike’s experiences and whether they align with the data in Canada and abroad. And it’s always framed in a contextual way where they explain how politicians or media are reporting on the issue before they break it down and explore the issue and potential solutions.
