Each year, we try to do something to highlight local businesses, especially during the holiday shopping season. This year, the dream was to create an event that brought digital creators together to network while also showcasing local establishments and offering a pre-holiday boost to their bottom line.

We tapped social media content specialists, foodies, photographers, and enthusiastic entrepreneurs with a variety of online platforms and presence. Follower counts weren’t the criteria; engagement and enthusiasm were the conditions to be invited.

And did we choose right! The energy from these two dozen creators was more than we’d hoped and the whirlwind six hours raced by. Each business we visited was profiled in stories by the Content Crawl Crew, who were welcomed with samples, homemade cookies, freshly staged stores, and so much love from the business community.

The love poured both ways, with friends and followers engaging with our stories and sharing their own shopping plans to visit local – some as soon as the next day.

But not everyone feels empowered to properly show young people how to save, how to spend, and how to make your money work for you. That’s when we search for the people who do know how to start these conversations and have created tools to help us do it – like this week’s guest, Nigel Wyles. He’s a dad to three daughters, as well as a branch manager with Credit Unions. He joins Jenna & Tosh to talk through tips for helping your child open a bank account, helping your teen with their first credit card, basic budgets, and more. There’s magic in the air – Santa is here! Jenna & Tosh had a chance to welcome Jolly Ol’ St. Nick to the studio to talk about the busy days ahead and all the stops he’ll be making in Greater Moncton this year.

Moncton is quickly becoming a sport tourism destination, with this month’s Atlantic Slam adding top tier basketball to the list of national and international competitions held in the GMA. Event co-chair Roberto Di Donato joins Jenna & Tosh to talk about the event and what it could mean for the future growth of basketball in the region.

Atlantic Slam takes place November 16-19, 2023 at the Avenir Centre in downtown Moncton, New Brunswick. Watch teams from Yale, Gardner-Webb, Weber State, and Colgate on the court, as well as prep school teams from Orangeville, Rothesay Netherwood, CZ Academy (a Czech basketball federation project), and United Scholastic Academy.

Attracting visitors to New Brunswick is one of the largest economic engines in this province, making both the growth and sustainability of tourism a fundamental piece of development plans. Ensuring those plans reflect and respect local communities is the focus of an ongoing effort by the The Rural Upper Bay Of Fundy Regional Destination Development Project (coordinated through The Friends of Fundy), which is facilitating the upcoming Fundy Connects Summit: Securing the Future of Tourism. Friends’ Executive Director, Micha Fardy, joins Jenna & Tosh to talk about regenerative tourism, destination marketing, development, & stewardship, and more.
