Podcast Is Broken

What they focus mainly on politics, there’s no doubt that they keep in mind Canada’s true identity. Yes, they rag on the CPC and PP, as well as other right wing political parties. But they’re also willing to be judgemental of other parties, and overall present, a very balanced and entertaining view. Definitely worth listening to if you enjoy Canadian politics, logic, and humor.

I was going to ask Lisa B and Brittlestar to stop making Steve laugh but last night I realized that Steve makes himself laugh.

In an attempt to offer balance to reporting, we have allowed the creeping erosion of public discourse. We accept that to speak one’s mind is tantamount to divinity, giving that right a very real religious parallel — including the unassailability of its content, regardless of its veracity and factual, verifiable nature. This podcast does have a definite perspective, but tempers the opinions (largely) with caveats, offering support for their assertions. Seldom, unless tongue-in-cheek, do they dismiss criticism without conceding the purpose or value of it. The villains of the piece are the “Alt-Wrong”, Neoliberalism (okay, I’m codifying that one myself), narcissism, demagoguery, populism, Libertarianism, and general ignorance of the fact that, like it or lump it, we are all in this together. It’s hard to argue with this broken podcast’s attempt to offer space to think about Canadian politics weekly. Agree or no, taking time is worthwhile.

Love this podcast and its hosts. Keep it coming! If our world is blowing up at least I can laugh about it.
