She's Speaking with Emily Hanks

I actually wait to listen to Emily’s recaps of my fave Bravo shows because I look forward to the way she breaks it down with her amazing comical style. She has the best recaps taking us through the episode and basically sharing the same brain as me! 10/10!

I’ve listened for close to a year and enjoyed a lot of the episodes. I’m a mom to young children but don’t have any close friends who watch bravo so podcasts and discussions in the comments are a fun way to engage. I recently commented with something I felt no one was acknowledging that was important to the drama being discussed. I got a comment directly back which is rare and would usually be a treat. But instead it just made me feel really bad, like I not only had to re-explain my point but that I had somehow offended the host with my opinion. I replied and did my best to explain and received another reply saying that I was clearly making a completely unrelated point… I mean it was me sharing my take, so maybe there was a disconnect in our communication but it doesn’t mean I was talking about something unrelated. In every comment I mentioned how much I appreciated her takes and the podcast and yet, I was left defending myself with the host. It felt so yucky and confusing. I scrolled through the other comments. She gave lots of likes and comments back to people who said “love you!” “You have the best takes!” etc. So apparently you have to show unquestioning love and mirroring to be respected in her comments. I’ve never been treated like this in any other parasocial relationship and it shocked me. Did I do something wrong? Read everything over and have to conclude, nope. I was engaging in respectful and normal discussion and it was not respected by the host. I’ll be moving on from this podcast and looking for hosts who are both engaging and confident enough to hear differing opinions without feeling the need to shut them down.
