SILVA - In 1933, Björn, Alvar and Arvid Kjellström together with Gunnar Tillander invented the first-ever liquid-filled compass, and their story began. Not only was it the first compass of its kind, but it also set the global standard for how navigation works today. Then, in 1935, we launched our first headlamp – Zeiler – and the SILVA brand was born. https://silvasweden.uk/
Carmine De Grandis joins us this week. A breath of fresh air in our community. We have a catchup and we talk about his 3 Peaks Challenge.
21 train changes in 4 days. 3 countries. 1 gravel bike. Paniers weight: 13.6kg. Accordion Bag weight 13.5 to 14 kg. 70% CO2 emissions saving on equivalent 1235 miles car journey. We enjoyed sharing the mic with Carmine. What a guy!

This week our very own Eddie Sutton shares her SILVA Northern Traverse story. A near 200-mile journey from St Bees on the west coast of England to Robin Hood's Bay on the East coast. A wonderful route taking in Mountains, Dales, Moors. The Vale of York and quite a few miles of bogs!

This week we chatted with David Bone, Tunnel Ultra champ, 2023 Spine race finished and holder of 115 FKTs! David is also a race director over at Camino Ultras whose intention is to make it as easy as possible for you to start their events either inside of London’s orbital or by at least getting quick and affordable public transport - at both ends. This 'stay local' option is a necessary step for the millions of us who live in major cities around the globe. This week's competition is supported by BEET-IT Sports. We share your Tales from the Trails and catch up on our weekly training.

Review from afar!
Hello/Bonjour
My name is Nicole. I am from a small island on the East Coast of Canada (Prince Edward Island) and am a HUGE fan of your Podcast. I share your Podcast as much as possible. I am an Ultra runner and currently training for my 5th Ultra and first 24hr race: goal 100km. I’ve tried listening to some North American Podcasts on running, but I find the American accent so boring hahaha (and serious). I love listening to you both. I often find myself smiling and laughing out loud. I appreciate your honesty and authenticity because, well I try to be authentic and I believe the world needs more of that. The Podcast is also very educational and informative. I can wait to sign up for a race over your way one day!!! Maybe Dragons Back or Lakes 100…? Thank you both for being you! Sending 5 Stars from afar! Bless
Love this!
I love thé conversation in this podcasts and all the interviews. As a new trail runner I find the stories and topics so inspirational. And it’s nice to hear how Eddie balances young kids and running.
Listening from Okotoks AB, and hoping to get back to the UK now that I’m in to trail running and check out some of the trails in the Lakes and the Highlands.
Overseas Review!!!
Hey Gary and Eddie....you inspired me to figure out how to do a review on Apple. I watch every show through YouTube and always leave a 5 star comment (if I may say so myself). As an overseas listener (Bella Coola Valley, Canada) I thought I'd try and diversify your geographical fan base! Truly, I love your shows and they have kept me inspired through my race season....and helped me achieve my goals and more. It all started with following Gary's channel back in the day. My parents are from the North East so just hearing that familiar accent and seeing some places in is videos I had visited made me really enjoy his channel. The content wasn't too bad either! Anyway, as you evolved into the podcasts things just kept getting more and more interesting and entertaining. I'm cheap but didn't hesitate to join as a patreon. (Also I don't do Instagram or Facebook etc so it's the only way to try and win a damn prize) I have enjoyed a few personal email exchanges with Gary and consider him a friend...(you too Eddie but you never acknowledge my Strava comments). Also I'm turning 60 in December so can't wait to race is 2024 in the new age group. I feel like Gary a year ago when he arrived into the 50+ club and started looking fast! That will be my goal...to seem fast ...for 2024. Anyway, I digress. Awesome podcast and episode....the Lakeland 50/100 seems like a bucket list adventure...I would give it 6 stars if I could! Keep smiling! Peace!
