Get the pronouns right

Good analysis and I enjoyed the hosts’ perspectives, but I couldn’t stop myself from cringing each time they referred to Taylor as “she/her.” It sticks out like a sore thumb and takes away from the value of the production.

Mariachimelons ,

Not the smartest show

I had to update because I gave the show another chance and regret it:

No. No. NO.

I listen to this podcast because there aren’t many that recap BILLIONS but I’m going to have to stop because the hosts are just not smart enough to keep up with the show itself. They sound like first year English majors trying to impress each other by seeing connections and allusions that aren’t always there. “Icebreaker” was the last straw, with all kinds of “observations” that stretch credulity. I.e: just because there are two references to hunting, it does not mean the episode is about a hunt. LOOK AT THE NARRATIVE IN THE EPISODE; it’s not about hunting. Similarly, the predictions about the new Bonnie character completely overreach. How about the writers realized they needed a little gender parity and this is just a way to reflect the dynamic on the floor? And speaking of gender, how can I respect a “fan”show that completely ignores Taylor’s non binary status -a defining element of the show - and keeps calling them “she”. After a season and a half? Get with it already.

Aside from that, the hosts just aren’t super knowledgeable. Wendy does not show she has major “kahunas”; it’s “cojones”, a totally different word from a totally different culture. And regardless of whether a “heel” is a villain in wrestling, that is not what Chuck means when he says he’ll find a way to make Jeffcoat think they’re “still under heel”. These are things an English major actually would know. You guys are trying too hard and you’re missing the mark. Repeatedly.

I can’t listen anymore to people who don’t even know they don’t know what they’re taking about. If you want to hear it done right, go check out The Recappables BILLIONS podcast; they’re much smarter, more illuminating, not posing, and they GET it.

Original review :
This post show recap is far inferior to The Recappables version -- the hosts just aren't that smart. And worse, they don't go and look up references, they eitherjust make assumptions or shrug. Some of the interpretations of S3E4 were unbelievably misguided and off, And worst of all, TAYLOR'S PRONOUN IS THEY! if the show can condition audiences to expect that by now, you should be able to avoid constantly calling them "her" -- put up a sticky note to remind yourselves or something, but get it right. I listenedto a few episodes to get my BILLIONS discussion fix ,but when you compare to the Recappables, you just don't get as much insight or acuity here. Meh.
