The Constant: A History of Getting Things Wrong

The particular job that i do allows me to listen to whatever content i want for 7-8 hours a day. This means i consume A LOT. From baseball play by play, to the great courses, to podcasts. The Constant is BY FAR the best podcast i’ve found. The subject matter is fascinating. It’s educational but also brings home our own fallibility(both individually and as a human species), in an incredibly brilliant narrative style. Mark is an engaging story teller, knowing when to weave in details and when to leave us hanging, and brings gravity, solemnity, and humour in all the right amounts and in the right places. I am so glad i found this show!

Mark Chrisler has some kind of magical power that enables him to make scientific history not only extremely digestible, but entertaining and frequently funny as well. Listening to him talk is a real treat. He often starts with topics that initially sound unimportant and masterfully shows how these things helped shape our world.

I listen to a lot of podcasts. I’m fairly picky too. The Constant (via Marks talents) is, by far my favourite. Mark wears many hats, he is a dogged research, master orator and accomplished comedian. I spent numerous months listening to the entire library of the Constant. Marks work is informative and entertaining. I would hate to add up all the hours I spent listening to Mark. For sure, it was not a waste of time. I would like to add a funny quip about how Mark takes you on an audible journey and then delivers a great twist or moral sentiment at the end, often leaving me saying, “Mark, you bastard, you did it again”. The world needs more Mark and more The Constant. Mark, I know you don’t know me, but I love you buddy. Keep up the great work Josh

For years this has been the podcast I have to listen to the day it’s released. Each episode has been a delightful convoy along the scenic route of history, lead by a passion for seeing the whole picture and a rare, refreshing sense of whimsy. Not a fan of the new interview-style dynamics, but who am I to begrudge someone their artistic expression and control of their own product? Someone with internet access, that’s who!
