Solid Podcast Dealing With Controversial Topics
11 mars
While I don’t always agree with Phil, Skye and the team, I do appreciate hearing their perspective which is often contrary to the typical conservative Christian narrative. They have changed my mind on a number of political topics, and have forced me to examine my biases. My favorite episodes are the French Fridays.
Anti-Arab colonial platform
28 juin
Often claims that they equally criticize “both” sides, but consistently platforms David French, a man who clearly supports the removal and destruction of the Palestinians, openly admits to being paid by the Israeli government, and believes that private Christian schools should not be held to the same standards as non-christian private schools. It is openly colonial in its thinking and discriminatory. David French continues to promote his own power and deny that others have the right to conduct their organizations by their own rules. Any decision made that goes against him is an organization “cancelling” him. He centres the world narrative around himself and not Jesus or others.
Split show

I really enjoyed the split show. I like that one is deeper and one is lighter. Makes for easy pickings when it come to who I’m listening with
Vischer is jaded, reactionary and culture-driven
2023-12-12
I’ve been listening to the 2-part series “How Rapture Theology Shaped America” with guest Daniel Hummel, author of The Rise and Fall of Dispensationalism. As a soft dispensationalist, I find it hard not to be offended by Vischer’s smarminess. His lack of respect for fellow believers who hold different viewpoints from his own is disappointing and off-putting. Elements of dispensational teaching pervade much of American Christianity. Vischer would have his audience believe that we were all duped by Darby and ignorant people who blindly followed his theology, including men like Moody, who he paints as a pure pragmatist when it comes to theology. I can guarantee that Moody gave more thought to his theological positions than Vischer does. Vischer has no theological training of any kind, as far as I’m aware, and yet he sees himself as being wiser than everyone else in the room. The more you listen to him, you see that he is constantly reacting against Christians and elements of the Christian church that he feels makes him look bad to people in the culture. It’s a consistent theme. It’s really too bad. Vischer has a large audience and can be entertaining and informative. But I fear that he is just going to continue to feed the progressive machine. BTW, in the episodes I referenced, he takes no time to actually evaluate the theological positions in question; he merely scoffs at them. That’s not helpful to anyone. I’d encourage him to actually get a well-spoken proponent of dispensational ideas (including the rapture) and allow that person to bring some balance to this particular discussion.
