Trends Like These Maximum Fun

i say this as a BIG taz fan; the best thing the mcelboys have ever given me is the chance to get to listen to courtney. brent and travis are great too, i suppose.

but, really, i never thought i would find in a weekly news podcast such an important source for the modelling of compassion, the willingness to learn/apologize/grow, and the discussion of mental health & care. they’re not always right, but they’re always trying to do better, and i never feel that the people are getting lost for the sake of the story. thanks.

First time listener, but already loving the chemistry between all three hosts!! I read a couple disobliging reviews that solely focused on their dislike of Courtney’s voice, but I’d like to firmly cast my vote into the “definite fan” box. Everyone’s entitled to their opinion and some are more sensitive to higher pitched voices, but Courtney brings a lot of fire, passion, and another POV. To dismiss her because of something she can’t control seems insulting to me. Adding someone more subdued would have brought a very different energy to the podcast, sure, but I’m hella digging how she talks about things she’s obviously passionate about 😄 she gets so animated!! ANYWAYS. Love all three hosts, y’all are amazing! ♥️

But the quality has been slipping a lot recently. When I first listened to the show I could trust they they at least did their research into a subject but recently it’s been feeling more and more like a rattle off of headlines and then react to them. There has been stories that are deeper than they appear causing them to do something horribly misguided (like Courtney unwittingly endorsing someone who stole & sold other people’s nudes, as the most recent example I can think of).

If I can get better in-depth coverage from Twitter moments.... why should I listen to a podcast after the fact? No to mention, that while I’m sure it’s not intentional I keep having to rip my headphones out of my ears when Courtney screams for comedic purposes.

It’s all gotten really tedious and honestly, though I hate to say it, I’d rather the show end then see the quality dip more and more. The hosts are clearly too busy to do a really good job of it and I’d rather see them all thrive in their individual projects than see them tread water with this one.
