The spectacular year in horror, TV, and more - The Upstream Podcast

Daily Dot Podcasts

The Upstream podcast is back, baby. And we're ready to try to remember our favorite movies, TV shows, and memes of 2018, a year that felt very long indeed. Like Toni Collette in Hereditary, sometimes we just had to scream-face it out.

Speaking of Hereditary, our esteemed panel will discuss that remarkable and consuming film, which had a lot of us reading the Wikipedia entry before heading to the theater. It was a great year for horror, despite baffling arguments to the contrary: We also discuss The Haunting of Hill House, SuspiriaAnnihilation, and The Terror.

We didn't have enough time to get to all the TV shows we liked this year, but we do discuss two extremes: The Good Place and Killing Eve. Plus, we look back on the meme-ing of Phantom Thread and a year bookended by Black Panther and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
