Are you afraid of being different?

We were told that a good person should behave and think in a certain way. Anything outside of that typical framework is abnormal or needs to be fixed. However, what fun is the world if we are all the same kind of mainstream human being! I (Mrs. Tofu) recently came across a community of neurodivergent professionals in HK, and discovered a whole new perspective of the world. There were classroom trainings I attended to learn about neurodiversity in theory. However talking to real neurodivergent people and listening to their first-hand stories are so much more powerful and enlightening. In this episode, Mr. Bolo and I will share some of our learnings and thoughts. We are not abnormal, we are just different.

(Adult) Third Culture Kid: Growing up as a 2nd-generation immigrant

Did you grow up in a different country, city, or area than your parents’ original birthplace? Have you ever felt different to others, not as connected to others around you, your community, or your relatives, as you feel you should be? In this episode, our British Born Chinese host, Mr. Bolo introduces a new term: Third Culture Kid. As an (Adult) Third Culture Kid (ATCK) himself, he’s been learning about what it means, including the challenges and benefits, and other circumstances that revolve around this new-found community. Book referenced: Third Culture Kids: Growing Up Among Worlds, David C. Pollock, Ruth E. Reken, and Michael V. Pollock. Third Culture Kids: Growing Up Among Worlds, David C.
