In the Dark is a two-time Peabody Award winner and, in 2019, became the first podcast to win a George Polk Award, one of the top honors in journalism. Racism in the Deep South

Season One, all about a paedophilic abduction and murder was fascinating and brilliantly executed and had much of interest and import to say about the ability of small-town America to fight serious crime. This Season Two is even better. It throws a spotlight on the entrenched racism of the Deep South as a black man is repeatedly tried for a crime he clearly didn’t commit so as to satisfy one white DA’s personal vendetta. It would be the stuff of fiction were it not sad fact. The construction of the series is superb and the interviews telling. Hugely podcast friendly thanks to the amazing accents of the interviewees who bring Mississippi to life. Everyone should be following this. A sad indictment of the US but now I want to go on holiday there. Bizarre.
