Target is tapping into its stores to meet demand for fast delivery and curbside pickup. The retailer is using its nearly 2,000 U.S. stores to fulfill same-day delivery and pickup orders as it works to capitalize on a surge in e-commerce demand that started during the Covid-19 pandemic. The effort is one part of Target’s plan as it seeks to rebound from a rocky 2023, when its annual revenue declined for the first time in seven years. The Wall Street Journal’s Logistics Report reporter Liz Young spoke with Target’s chief supply-chain and logistics officer Gretchen McCarthy about the logistics and costs of same-day orders, its new membership program and what it means to use stores as fulfillment hubs.
