The Voices of the Companions project presents the lived experience of those connected to the Companions of Mary the Apostle (CMA).

The Companions of Mary the Apostle are an emerging community rooted in the Episcopal Church, spilling beyond its borders. We are an ecumenical community, open to people of all genders. Our mission is to proclaim the renewing and transforming power of encountering Christ in our lives and in the world. Like Mary Magdalene, the Apostle to the Apostles, we announce the good news of new life whenever, however, wherever we can. https://companionsofmarytheapostle.org

    Ernesto Medina

Ernesto Medina considers himself to be a “wanna-be” mystic and pilgrim.  Life for him is about the journey to explore how others see and experience God.  He follows Jesus for the sole purpose of learning to love as Jesus loves.

At the age of 18, Ernesto developed his first draft of his bucket list.  It includes outrageous experiences, including riding a Killer Whale.  By the time he was in his early 20’s he realized that he had almost completed his list, so he began adding to it.  The list currently has 91 items, 71 of which have been completed.  Some completed experiences included: Walking the Camino de Santiago, Race in a Figure 8 Derby, Survive an Emergency Landing on a commercial jet (added after the fact), Getting “dissed” by Lou Dobbs on National Television, and teaching his children how to travel.

Together with his wife Susan, they enjoy traveling (with a bias toward cruising), Disc Golf and photography.  Ernesto is the better photographer, but Susan consistently takes much better pictures.
