CE-who are we?

For eight episodes Transforming Healthcare has explored each of the parts that make up Clinical Excellence Queensland or CEQ. From improving access and flow and partnering with Hospital and Health Services to provide safe, high quality care to empowering clinical leaders and providing leadership to our workforce, we provide a very diverse range of services. It is only fitting that we close out Season 1 hearing from our new Deputy Director-General Dr Helen Brown to find out not only where she sees us going, but who we are when we come together. We're not taking the chance (ah yes, the safety dance)

From shining a light on two of our smaller teams in the last episodes, this time we’re turning attention to one of our largest—Patient Safety and Quality! As we learnt from Executive Director Kirstine Sketcher-Baker, when you’re supporting such a critical body of work, every single member of the team is needed - sometimes, at a moment’s notice - as they work with our Hospital and Health Services to provide safe care. From developing Ryan’s Rule and partnering with consumers to establish the Queensland Pelvic Mesh Service to improving identification of sepsis, this busy team take everything in their stride. Brusha, brusha, brusha

While there is a saying about having too many chiefs, at CEQ we value each and every one of ours and are grateful for the leadership they provide across the state. Today we’re taking a bite out of all things dental for our final ‘chief chat’ with Queensland’s Chief Dental Officer Dr Mark Brown. Mark and the team have down some pioneering work, developing an electronic oral health record in-house which has not only freed up space in public dental clinics around the state, but supports continuity of care for our most disadvantaged consumers. One of our newest – and smallest – teams are the Office for Prisoner Health and Wellbeing who work tirelessly to support staff to provide the best care possible to Queenslanders in prison. We caught up with their Director Graham Kraak to learn how they collaborate with Queensland Corrective Services to not only deliver care but innovate practice and improve services in this complex environment. This week we delve into the world of Allied Health with Chief Allied Health Officer Liza-Jane McBride. In addition to leading the Allied Health Professions’ Office of Queensland, she provides oversight and support for the workforce all across state.
