    Icelanders Lars Erickssong (Will Ferrell) and Sigrit Ericksdóttir (Rachel McAdams) are long-time best friends and bandmates of the band "Fire Saga". While Lars has the lifelong dream of winning the world famous Eurovision Song Contest, many locals in their small town of Húsavík do not support the band's musical aspirations, particularly Lars's father (Pierce Brosnan). However, Fire Saga luckily gets selected to represent Iceland at Eurovision with Lars and Sigrit going through trials and tribulations before they are given the chance to perform in front of the world.
