The creative work may be in a literary, artistic, educational, or musical form. Copyright is intended to protect the original expression of an idea in the form of a creative work, but not the idea itself. 1976 Copyright Act - extended federal copyright protection to all works, both published and unpublished, once they are fixed in a tangible form. **Fair use under US copyright law. Section 107. fair use - identifies certain types of uses—such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching, scholarship, and research—as examples of activities that may qualify as fair use. https://www.copyright.gov/fair-use/more-info.html 1998 DMCA - Digital Millennium Copyright Act 1998 (keyword dissemination) - It criminalizes production and dissemination of technology, devices, or services intended to circumvent measures that control access to copyrighted works. **dissemination: the action or fact of spreading something, especially information, widely. **Safe harbour: protects sites that allow users to upload and share content with others, but site must comply with DMCA notice and take down procedure questions / thoughts *apparently stores even need a PPL and PRS to play music? wuhhh *what is the process to register copyright in us? Not required in us BUT required to file suit. *My opinion on DMCA + concerts / president (elect) biden speech *is a “content creators” work considered copyright material… radio and television broadcasts are eligible, why not creators? *thoughts on fair use as far as music or even a movie on a stream? *what about in-game music or in-game copyright materials? *solutions?
