During Summer, 1979, when he was 23 and living in Long Branch, New Jersey, a few blocks from the Atlantic Ocean, author Dan Harary found a sign on the boardwalk that read “Spiritual Advisor.” Having never encountered such a place before, and on a whim, he entered.
