Cortney Jones of Austin is the Founder and Executive Director of Change 1, a community-based organization that collaborates with local agencies and individuals dedicated to foster care alumni success. In addition, she is a motivational speaker and previously worked for the Department of Family and Protective Services. She is a member of the Child Welfare Race Equity Collaborative Advisory Committee.  

She has a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work from the University of Texas A&M-Commerce and a Master’s degree in Social Work emphasizing Administrative Leadership from Texas State University-San Marcos. Cortney has advocated for youth and young adults that have been impacted by the foster care system, and she is also a former foster youth.  She is a tireless advocate for change within the system and change within the youth themselves.  

When Cortney is not working, she enjoys movies, poetry, traveling, live music, and spending time with her friends and family. Cortney’s personal mission in life is to Never Give Up and to Engage in every opportunity that presents itself, to Encourage others to be their best selves, and to empower people to accomplish their life goals.
