Real-Time Issues in Prayer. - Martin Luther on Prayer. Pt 1 - Precepts and Promises
Highlighting two countries I can find on a map, (I think) Japan and Brazil! Thank you all for listening, it is our sincere prayer that the episodes you hear are continually an encouragement to your communion with our Savior. Thank You, Jesus!
I was reminded in reading a little of the theology of Martin Luther on prayer from the book, "Taking hold of God: Reformed and Puritan Perspectives on Prayer" of an early tenant of the podcast that among our motivations for prayer is indeed God's command, and also His promises. We call to God continually for it is His precept to us, but also in the depths of our souls we need to cling to His promises, daily.
Luther wrote:
"Let this be the first and most necessary point to consider: All our prayers must be based and rest on obedience to God, regardless of our person, whether we be sinners or saints, worthy or unworthy."
And for our hearts:
"I come to thee, dear Father, and pray not of my own accord or because of my own worthiness, but at thy commandment and promise, which cannot fail or deceive me." Whoever does not believe this promise should realize once again that he angers God, grossly dishonoring him and accusing him of falsehood."
Our So What?
It is in knowing His promises which carry us through the difficult discipling of prayer until, our time with Him is the most joyful part of our day.
"Trust in the LORD, and do good; Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness. 4 Delight yourself in the LORD; And He will give you the desires of your heart."
Psalm 37:3-4
"These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full."

Jesus Teaches Prayer - Forgiveness: God is Serious
This episode is a repeat of our episode on forgiveness. This episode was well received, and as you will hear, praying that 2023 will be a year of Jubilee and Forgiveness and revisiting just how serious God is about His children forgiving as we have been forgiven seems like a good idea.
Thank You, Jesus!
The host is weak, faltering, and wholly inadequate for the task, but the word of God is none of those.
The call for the children of God to forgive is serious, and the Bible uses:
Serious Command as witnessed by:
Commands
Matthew 6:14
Mark 11:25
Allusions:
Matthew 5:43-45
Philippians 2:3ff
Exhortations:
Ephesians 4:29-32
Romans 13
Serious Discipline:
David was disciplined through
Embarrassment; 2 Samuel 2:12

Prayer 101: Our Signature Episode, What is Prayer? Category: Growing - Encouragement and Edification (repub.)
In examining the question, "What is Prayer?" We accidentally learn why we pray.
Even though no Biblical person asks why we pray? Their lives reveal our anguished need for prayer.
We are sinners. Until glory, we struggle with sin. Prayer is the act of faith that assures our soul.
We are complex lonely beings, and prayer brings us into the arms of our heavenly Father, who knows us, holds us, and comforts us.
Some of my favorite prayers:
Hannah, 1 Samuel 1.
Fathers calling out for their children, Mark 9, Matthew 9, Luke 7.
A roofing job, Mark 2
Psalm 39, Psalm 42
The woman who touched Jesus' robe, Luke 8.
Scriptures referenced:
Luke 18:1
Proverbs 15:8
Psalm 42:1
2 Corinthians 5:17 & Ezekiel 11:19
John 17:3 (of course)
Hebrews 11:1&6
Matthew 11:28-30
Romans 8:14-15
Romans 8:26-28
1 Corinthians 12:11-12
Hebrews 4:16, 7:25, 4:12-13
The TARDIS even makes an appearance as we learn:
Psalm 62:8 Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah.

Devotional 109 -The Perfect Law Restores the Soul
We highlight Australia and Spain as long-term listeners today, and we thank you for being a part of our prayer family.
Our devotional today is again from Psalm 19. The nature of God's word as fitting to His will is clear from Psalm 19:7-11.
The Psalm begins with David's assertion, moved by the Holy Spirit:
The law of the LORD is perfect, restoring the soul;
How can it be said, "The Law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul?"
The answer comes in the New Testament:
Peter testifies in Acts that the only name under heaven, by which we must be saved, is Jesus the Messiah. Acts 4
Paul testifies in Galatians that the law is our tutor to assure us of our need for a Savior.
Paul's testimony in Romans 10 culminates with:
"…However, they did not all heed the glad tidings; for Isaiah says, "LORD, WHO HAS BELIEVED OUR REPORT?" 17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ."
However else God may lead a person to Himself, hearing a word of Christ or a word about Christ establishes faith that leads to salvation.
Glory to God, the Law of the Lord is perfect, restoring the soul.
Ponder the goodness of God to establish and preserve His word, which leads to The Word.
Our So What?
We pray for our beloved who do not know Jesus, the Savior; the eyes of their hearts would be enlightened through God's love letter to us.

Season 6 What is Prayer? - Biblical - Our Critical Need.Part 2b- Spirit and The Word i.
Richard Durrington always adds an air of professionalism; thank you, Richard, for the new intros.
Greetings to three countries who listen to the podcast, which I am uncomfortable mentioning because of the closed nature of those areas. But we are glad you are listening, and we pray for protection, faith, comfort, and zeal for the gospel's truth.
This episode introduces us to the intricate workings of the Holy Spirit and the word of God.
Andrew Murry kicks us off, saying:
O Lord, (my words)
"teach me to carry Thy every word as a living seed in my heart, in the assurance that it shall work in me all Thy good pleasure."
And
"The Spirit and the word always go together, l can be sure concerning all of which the word says that l must do it, that l also can do it through the Spirit. l must receive the word and also the command in the confidence that lt. is the living word of the living God which also works in us who believe."
Ephesians 5:15-21 and Colossians 3:15-17 show us the Word of God gives structure to our prayers, and the Holy Spirit gives God's heart to our prayers.
We walk and pray in the Spirit and truth to the glory of the Holy God.

Season 6 What is Prayer? - Biblical - Our Critical Need.Part 2a- Introduction. Reason vs Superstition.
In today's episode, we highlight Russia and Rwanda. Both countries have been listening for a while, and we just want to let you know we appreciate your listening. We are grateful to you and wonder at the goodness of God in our midst.
The Puritans often referred to the Bible as a reasonable life, and we are called to a well-thought-out life of God's love and will.
Because I struggled with our life of faith,Hebrews 11:6, the secret counsel of God, (He has not told us everything) Deuteronomy 29:29. Even the heavenly angles are left in awe and wonder by God's wonderful works, 1 Peter 1:12
Given also my aversion to plain superstition, I have needed to ponder the "reasonableness" of the word.
The Holy Spirit leads us to true Christian doctrine, and puts in context both the prescriptive Law and volitional obedience to the weightier things, love, forgiveness, compassion, etc.
(I wrote it more precise than I spoke it! Lol out loud)
Give this episode a listen, and see if I did.
